I just heard on CNN that Comcast is now recording peoples credit card numbers , their passwords and what sites they visit.

By the end of the week they will be doing it nationwide.

Maybe I should be glad I still only have a 56k modem.

Neither Earthlink nor AOL track web usage of their customers. Comcast was doing it in the Detroit and DC areas and were going to do so nationwide.

Apparently, from the newscast I just heard, they're going to stop it. I guess the firestorm of incredulity make them listen to reason. :)

Thank God!

Now I wonder if they can still do this and keep it under wraps? (besides for the use of cookies)

That's what the Detroit media are reporting. Also, Comcast has put a "speed limit" on download speeds. so the "high speed" access is really only slightly better than with a regular phone modem.

That and the fact that there was a Congressman looking into it and telling them to cut the shit.
