"As you know, you recently disclosed to senior college administration your transsexual status. Upon consideration, you are immediately relieved of your duties.'' <signed, Patricia Shuster, the vice president for administration>

St. Anselm College is claiming that they have the right to do this because they are a Roman Catholic school. And the Religious Freedom Restoration Act and the First Amendment require the separation of church and state.

Does this sound right to you?

Well then .. they should fire every person on their staff that they find out having sodomy or sex before marriage... or sex for pleasure not procreation....

I've learned that trying to make sense out of christian and especially catholic hipocrisy is useless......

Ugh, how disgusting. This really emphasizes the disparity between gay acceptance and trans acceptance. I realize that a Roman Catholic institution doesn't support either one, but the reaction of society is different. Many people who would be very upset about this if it were a gay issue are either indifferent or supportive of the decision because it's a trans issue.

Thanks for the pointer, onceburned, I hadn't heard about this.
