Bitch here.

Washington vs. Alabama should be a slobberknocker.

Is there a Vegas line yet?

Edited: yep, Bama by 11 to 14 points. Quite a spread between books!

Clemson is really tough too so I don't know. I'm sure Ohio State will be underdogs.

I liked it better back in the day when we just had the traditional bowl games and the sports writers voted.

Playoffs in college football blow.

Seriously??? D1 has been advocating for a playoff for decades. It's the only true way to pick a winner. Play the fucking game. Not let some sports writers who have never stepped foot on the field pick who's the best. Let the kids play! It's true in every other college sport. Why not football at the D1 level?

I'm a tad surprised...#3 Ohio State opens as a three point favorite over #2 Clemson. I figured it'd be the other way around.

A "true" winner doesn't need to be named. I liked the old bowl system where players on successful teams could take a winter trip to a warm climate and be pampered a little bit. The kids, as you call them, are unpaid labor bringing millions to their institutions. The playoff system is motivated by money. Either pay these entertainers or cut back to a 10 game (including a bowl) season.

I won't even discuss "stepped foot", I wonder what you did instead of high school.

One more thing...

Alabama is amazing this year. You don't need a four team playoff to decide a champion this year.

There were some announcers on ESPN yesterday, who seemed to think Clemson can beat Alabama.

That's a fair comment, but there are year where it's obvious who the "best" team is in any sport, and yet we still have the playoffs to determine the champion.

Something like the Premier League where every team plays every other team, home and away, and the team with the best record at the end is champion, is foreign to American sensibilities. The idea of having a champion decided before the end of the season is so anathema that NASCAR has tweaked its format again and again to make it impossible for anyone to win the Cup before the final race.

Do you really think bowl games have not been motivated by money? And the playoffs are still held in warm climates.

I played football in high school and college.. What did you do?

More games played means higher gate at stadiums, more air time sold, ads shown and site hits made. Big money in American college football.

Bitch here.
I'm actually brand new here, just randomly found this forum from some site listing the biggest internet forums as they were ranked in 2008. LMAO Anyway, decided to register after reading this thread.

LOVE COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Bama is the best team. I think Ohio State can give them a game. Clemson maybe, but do they have the talent and depth? Washington struggled against COLORADO. Sorry, but I see Bama winning it all this year, unless Hurts is injured.

i only care about western michigan, and only then because i'm in the neighborhood. i have no idea what their chances against wisconsin are, but fuck it. i'll watch the fucking cotton bowl and hope for the best. well, if i remember, anyway.

No shit. That's the name of the game. Has anyone proposed that money wasn't the biggest contender on any football event!?

I'm convinced Alabama is going to win it all. No way the Tide will lose.
Just like I was convinced Carolina was going to win the Super Bowl in February.

Even though I'm a Buckeye, it would be great to see Washington fuck the entire system up along with Saban's lettuce.

Exactly how does a one loss team, who lost to the conference champions, stay in the playoffs?
Ohio State did not play for their conference's championship, The Lions WON the title and beat the team that currently sits in the playoffs on their way to winning the Big Ten trophy.
Somebody goofed on that one.

Ohio State should be out and the rankings should have been:
Alabama #1
Clemson #2
Washington #3
Penn State #4.

In a world where male dominance still reigns, it's great to see pink as leader of this site's pro and college football fangirl clubs.

Suck a dick.

Penn State is deserving. Just as much as a loss to Wake Forrest evolves a Clemson birth. Or a USC win against Washington. It's all subjective. Nothing new.

I dislike Alabama. Nick Saban is an asshole. He was horrid to staff while at Michigan state. I do see them winning the whole thing AGAIN. Ugh...

Yes, my team was bad this year filled with players who left for NFL and endless injuries, Ohio State was lucky to get out of East Lansing with a win. MSU played well that day.

I'm obsessed with college football and really enjoyed seeing the rise of Big Ten football this year over the usual SEC dominance. The Big Ten plays the best type of football in my opinion.

Maybe they shouldn't lost to a crappy Pitt team or got schlacked at home by UM.

Out of conference OSU went on the road and thumped Oklahoma.
