Colin Powell exchanges resignation for return of his testicles

Finally, he's ransomed the things. I hope his insurance covers reattachment.

NBC quoted an "unnamed source" in the administration as saying the president has long been aware that differences between Powell and Rumsfeld were counterproductive, and that one of them would have to go. If it were Rumsfeld, "it would be like admitting to failure in Iraq."

Heaven forfend! Things are going badly enough; acknowledging that it's going badly would make it worse, or something.

Another name being bandied about for a cabinet position is Paul Wolfowitz, who gave us Ahmad Chalabi and insisted prior to the Iraq invasion that there would be "no warring factions inside Iraq."

Under the new Bush-Think, the wronger you were and the more convinced you were of your rightness, the more you deserve to be rewarded with a cabinet position. Powell rightly predicted what would happen in Iraq and doubted the existence of WMD; whereas Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld and Condoleeze Rice were wrong but Resolute.

Wrong + Unapologetic = Resolute = Promotion

Right All Along, But Kept Quiet Because Testicles Were Held in Blind Trust = "Thanks for lending us your moderate image and the whole war-hero thing; don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out."

It's too late for Colin Powell to get them back. he sold them once and for all for political expediency.

He opposed the war in Iraq, but lacked the courage to resign or threaten to resign to try and stop it.

He allowed himself to be the WMD stooge at the UN, was made a public fool by Bush, Rumsfeld and Cheney, swallowed it all and still did not resign even after it became public knowledge he was used.

He emasculated the Secretary of State position, the oldest and most prestigious Cabinet post, making it subservient to Bush's Troika of Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice.

Instead of standing up for his beliefs, he tried to cover his ass by leaking his complaints to Bob Woodward, then denyng it.

And they say Kerry was a polital oppurtunnist! Powell's ambition has turned himself into nothing less than Condoleeza's lap dog.

The irony is that he still has not set himself up for any position in the Republican party other than than the peak he has risen to. Once you act like a toady, you can never be a prince--Subo machiavelli.

The second-best thing so far to come out of his resignation is this unexpected observation by my friend's sweet, controversy-avoiding, never-before-political mother, who was watching NBC news last night and suddenly blurted out,

"That Condoleeza Rice is such a ball-worshipper! Do you think she ever has a thought of her own?"

I you don't use your testicles with regular frequency, they will become painful, swell up, turn blue, explode, and the shards will eventually shrivel up, cutting off the circulation of testosterone, and rapidly turn the poor fellow gay.

It least that's what a number of guys back in my old high school told me.
