I think a big part of it is the 'look of detest' and disinterest for me though. A lot of blackmail or slave stories will have the blackmailer train the would-be slave to like it or pretend to like it, which doesn't do it for me.

IMO, this is a real turn on, and you've hit on the head how a good concept is usually degenerated into an average porn show of the usual 12 minutes of a by the numbers porn.
