So I have read many, many threads on here and never heard anything about coding or not coding while in a scene.

Could someone explain this to me?

Just another way of saying "safeword", or using a word to stop the action of a scene for safety reasons or emotional reasons or whatnot.

do you mean safewords or something else?

Signs, or safewords to tell your partner whats happening for you.
Clarified and checked before playing.

What I use are pretty standard.
Green- I'm ok
Amber or orange- I'm having trouble but dont want to stop.Indicates that you need to slow down or modify play, if you want to continue in this direction.
Red- cant do this. stop now.
Holding an object if I am gagged, shaking it if I am in trouble, dropping it if I need to stop,
but not all 'players' may have the same signs and words.
Check the library.. More important is to check with your partner.

or did you mean specific codes for types of play or players...like the gay community use/d to identify each other.

And here I thought this was going to be something like the geek code...

I, personally, was hoping for some hidden trove of C++ or Perl programmers who like to code while being flogged.
