You have no idea what he has or hasn't done. What are the terms of the release? What does Kim get or not get out of it? Does it even matter to him to begin with or is it just a way to make us think he's suddenly a good guy?
What exactly did Trump do to make this happen? No guesses. Verifiable facts that Trump did it and didn't appease anyone in the process.

I totally agree, Some folks are too dumb to survive, but they are US citizens. What's different is the change in North Korea. The last one they released was a dead man walking. Trump isn't going to forget that.
I don't know who these men are or why they were in North Korea, they could have been American spies for all we know or left wing communist sympathizing idealists from California. I am sure of one thing, that Kim released these prisoners because he wants to appease Trump.

Theoretically, the handful of rice they were probably given each day could be re-allocated to to Kim's citizens who's children spend time searching for and picking up single grains of rice off the ground. But who knows.
