I had this weird thought that it would be better to check out the story myself than to run with whatever some dumb-dumb posted on a chat board, so I did.

It's true, CNN posted Zimmerman's personal information. Because the court clerk hadn't blacked it out on one of the documents presented as evidence during the trial, and CNN is carrying the trial live. FOX happened to be covering Egypt at that moment, or they'd have shown it too. MSNBC and HLN, whatever that is, were on commercial break. HLN is showing the trial with a one-minute delay, so they might not have shown it if they'd caught it. MSNBC probably would have.

It's a fuck-up, and we all already know CNN sucks. It's not a conspiracy, though.

Yes there was. Documents submitted to a court are a matter of public record, unless they are specifically sealed (which would mean they would not appear in open court). Anyone can access publicly filed documents. Anyone in that court could see any and all information contained on that document. That is precisely why lawyers have a strict requirement to redact social security numbers, as well as other private material, from documents before they submit them to a court. Any filing I have ever handled, in state or federal court, will actually ask me if I have complied with this rule before I submit the document. A lawyer fucked up.

I cant count the trials I've been thru, and the egregious BS that goes on is hilarious and awful. The best I ever witnessed was the judge who dismissed my petition then says, I'M ORDERING PROTECTIVE SUPERVISION FOR LIL GERMAINE. I look at the defendants lawyer, he looks at me, and he says to the judge, THEN THE STATE NEEDS A PETITION. And the judge removes her Hippie glasses and says, BUT GERMAINE NEEDS PROTECTIVE SUPERVISION! And the other lawyer repeats, AND THE STATE NEEDS A PETITION. So she looks at me and says, FILE A NEW PETITION! And I say, FOR WHAT? YOU JUST KILLED THE BEST I HAD. She got moved to traffic court.

Lawyers and judges are the dummest people I know.
