I'm looking at a story where a guy who visits a high end club wins four tickets in one cabin on a clothing optional cruise and chasing up a couple of points that don't seem to be mentioned on the various websites. First question is, would four consenting adults from the same group be allowed to share a cabin? Two, I'm assuming things like dinners and special events would have a dress code.

Yeah, it’s usually two.

Four are single beds, however some of the beds on high end cruises are MASSIVE and could easily fit four people with a bit of room to spare for a fifth.

Maybe a double-book error causes problems?

Yes, this is normal and expected. Many rooms are setup with two single beds that can be moved to make a queen if needed, with one or two fold down bunk beds.

In the dining rooms, yes. It's generally resort casual, except on nights like the Captain's dinner, where a suit and dress would be the minimum. In the buffets, you can wear whatever.

Cruise outfits want to sell tickets. If the ship has cabins sized for 4+ people, as in the link above, they're probably not going to ask too many questions, especially if "clothing optional" means they're not getting a lot of parents-plus-kids bookings who might otherwise be taking those rooms.
