Clit hood piercing

I've been wanting to get my hood pierced for a couple of years now, but I have some questions. I'm hoping to get answers from people who have had it done. I've looked on bme.com and done some other research, but my questions don't really involve things like what the piercing process will be like or how it will feel to have the piercing itself done.

I did a search here on Lit and found some good information, but still have a few questions I'm hoping someone (anyone!) can help me with.

I'm interested in LONG TERM effects.

* Does it heighten or reduce sensation after 6 months or a couple of years? I expect heightened sensation for a while after the piercing, but does it last?

* Any problems with scar tissue forming after a while?

* Any problems with condoms tearing from the jewelry?

* Would you do it again if given the choice?

* Anything else you wish someone had told you before you got it done?

Thanks so much!

You clit is not used to a foreign object laying on top of it, so yes for a few months afterwards you will have a slightly hightened sensation. It won't get you off but i have had moments in lecture where i'll wiggle and i'll become arroused. It dosn't "fade" per say. your body gets used tot he oject being there. If the sensation "fades" all you need to do is get a larger ball for the end of the barbell. I started with a relatively large pice of jewelry and i went down in size when i got my pink barbell, if i were ever to put in my old jewelry i'd get the sensations again. (if that answers your first question)

No scar tissue as i have noticed so far. That dosn'et normally happen unless you take it out, tear it a little, or your piercer screwed up really bad. (hence the importance of a good piercer)

I don't normally use condoms. I'm ont he pill and me and my partner are tested and manogomus. (sp?) BUT, unless you get a weird barbell or hoop, there's no sharp edges on the jewelry (unless a ball falls off) Also placement, your hood is above the clit, it's hard for the condom to normally touch that area unless he's runnig his penis over it, but still no sharp edges so if anyythig all you'd notices are some extra bumps.

I would do it again. (In a heartbeat! I'm actually trying to think of another piercing i could get, i'm horribly perticular about what i do to my body but i love doing it anyway)

Probably the onlything would be, threads hurt. If you have any jewlry besides a clasping ball ring (CBR) it has threads to screw on the ball and when those go through a fresh piercing it kinda hurts. But much like the piercing it only hurts for a second than everything is all better afterward.

I love it... I have a vertical one with a curved 5/8th's inch barbell 14 gague. 14 gague is the most common gague for body piercings, often it's done at 16 becasue eyebrow barbells are the proper shape and size to put down there as well and thsoe are often done as 16g. Both vertical and horizional can be done with a hoop, straight or curved barbell. Vertical the barbell's balls or hoop's edge rests against the clit, a horizional one's hoop ball will normally rest against the clit, a horizional barbell won't. Make sure they use SSS (Surgical grade stainless steal) jewelry for healing as it's the best for bodies and has the least chance or irritation or infection. Ask a lot of questions while you're there. If anything as a lot about their procedure. Find out if they would use clamps or a reciving tube for the area (They used clamps on me and since the tissue down there is so delicate clamps shouildn't be used there, the other method, a reciving tube, is better). Watch carefully for anything shifty and if at any point you think something is uncleen or unsterile that's touching you're skin, you're needle, or your jewelry ask them about it or jsut leave. A customer's best weapon is knowlage. Have your piercer tell you what their doing as their doing it. Make sure you follow cleaning instructions as best you can (see if you can get a written copy). Avoid anything that could change the pH of the area (that vagina and the eye are the only self cleaning organs on the body). Often a little antibacterial soap and a salt soak will do for it. (I could go on but i'll stop here you can ask if there's anymore you would like to know)

what are you thinking of getting?

I am not a woman and I do not have a clit piercing, but....

I knew one young lady who'd had her clit piercing for three years. The novelty had not worn off for her.

I knew another woman who'd had her clit piercing for four years. She claimed to get "just like new" sensations and there was never a case where the condom tore.

Hope this information helps, but be sure to get plenty of opinions just to make sure.

Wow..thanks for posting this question. I ve had quite an interest in peircing my own clit hood but had been under the impression that the constant stimulation evenutually led to a desensitization of the clitoris over time. I'd be thrilled to hear from others and find that this isnt true?!?! :)

I peirced my nipples with a mild bit of concern but so far (about 3 months in to it ) no desensitization.. If the clit is the same, I'd LOVE to do it!

Thanks again!

I got my vertical hood piercing about 2 months ago. I love it! I have a 14 g small curved S/S bar. I had it sized so as the bottom bar sits closely to my clit.
The pain was intense for all of about 3 seconds. I caught my breath as the pain hit, and then could'nt stop grinning :D
It bled more than my other piercings, but healed so quickly!
I had no trouble with it at all, making sure I showered twice a day for extra 'cleaning & maintenance; LOL (just checking that the ball isn't loose!) ;)

It's great! :D

Okay, for my piercing there was no heightened sensation at all unless I physically rubbed the jewelry on my clit. It was normal. Which is a good thing, for me anyway.

* Any problems with scar tissue forming after a while?

No. But I've never had this problem with any piercings.

* Any problems with condoms tearing from the jewelry?

I wouldn't know the answer to this, I wasn't having sex at the time and I took it out before I had it again. :(

* Would you do it again if given the choice?

Yes! I would still have the damn thing if I hadn't bent my CBR! I promised my b/f I wouldn't get it redone though.

* Anything else you wish someone had told you before you got it done?

Nope. It was a simple procedure, minimal discomfort and no pain.

As for riding a bike, it never bothered me, and I was riding a few days after I had it done.

I had a piercing/tattoo thread on how-to at one point but I didn't feel like dragging it up right now. You might want to check it out, there are tons of different experiences there as well as varying aftercare routines :)

I vaguely remember having some discomfort with my piercing when riding my bike oddly. but i was having all over discomfort casue i hadne't done it in a while so the whole area got a shocking reality after the ride and i couldn't sit properly for 2 days (cause my ass was sore not the piercing) but i remember noticing the piercing when i went over a big bump or such (the area tends to be well protected by the labia major)

I've had mine for maybe 4 years now. (Can't remember at this moment--just woke up.)

When I change my ring, it is like having a fairly new one. I like it and it is my fave of my piercings. If you want me to post a picture, I'll be happy too since the powers that be have just removed the picture posted since I began here.

The sensation is from the rubbing against your clit. For many months, I literally lost weight with my volunteering to do the work involving the walking in my job. Never got me off, but did keep me frusterated for a longgggggg time.

Now I only feel it during normal activities when I change the ring. I change between a CBR and a curved barbell with different sized balls on the ends.

* Any problems with scar tissue forming after a while?

It is a super thin bit of flesh that is punctured. While I am sure there is some scarring there, I have not noticed it. When I remove the jewelry, I don't think even my gyn would notice it. (I don't go without it though--even piercings from years ago can close up in a matter of hours.)

* Any problems with condoms tearing from the jewelry?

I have never had any problem whatsoever. I suppose that if you wore some spikey teeney-bopper thing that it could but would guess that your flesh would tear before the condom.

* Would you do it again if given the choice?

I probably would do it again. I like it. It is my little secret. But I do have concerns about being a trauma patient and having my coworkers check out my cunt and then comment. The comments made about strangers are bad enough. Even though confidentiality is a major ethics issue, it is impossible for me to expect people not to talk.

* Anything else you wish someone had told you before you got it done?

To be honest, I have had many, many sex partners since I have had this done. It is a rare man who does not express fear of tearing it out. Even though the purpose is to say "BULLSEYE", it and my poor helpless clit are often ignored. This includes during oral sex. Usually I don't even bother requesting that. If the guy is too squeemish to dive on his own, I 'd rather not waste my time.

As for the posts above, I do take issue with the comments about the type of jewelry. There is no such thing as a "surgical steel". That is a term made up by jewelers to hoax the public into thinking these metals are hypoalergenic. It is bullshit. It is never the best thing to wear in your puss. It might be better than acrylic, but not much. (Acrylic is porous and will soak up your body fluids and breed icky things--never wear that for more than an evening.) The metal that is surgical grade is titanium. This is what we put into people when we replace their knees and hips. That is the only metal that I wear long term in my puss. Gold is not a good option (except for that occasional evening) since it is mixed as well as silver. (Silver reacts with urine.) Even though I might sound like I know what I am talking about (as did the above post-er with the "only use Make sure they use SSS (Surgical grade stainless steal) " lines, it is well worth the health of your cunt to do the research. BME is a good place along with several other.

I'd suggest you wander into a piercing shop as well. Some do not even have sinks for hand washing-believe it or not. Scope the place out. Go home and see how you feel about the place for a few days. Once you have decided you want the ring, wait a full 6 months. If you still want it, you should get it. If the idea has lost its appeal, you are better off.

Since I am semi-active in the public SM scene in Houston, I have seen plenty of pussies on display. This is a super-popular piercing location and I have never talked to someone about the failure of their hood piercing. The only one I have ever seen/heard discussed was from Cym, here @ Lit when her's migrated. (I think it was her clit--could have been labial though.) Of course, the nature of any type of failure being what it is, most people won't discuss this.

Considering how common these are in the SM community, they are not very common in general. My gyn has stated to me that he has never seen such. It could be the luck of the draw or maybe that most women who are into piercings are stupid about their health or that I don't go to the cheapest doctor and most of his clients are more well to do socially (Not your average peircing fans). Whatever the reason, he always has questions for me.

Some issues that I have encountered:

MRI
I have intentially walked into the MR scanner at my job and leaned into the tunnel to see if I felt even a stirring. Nope--nada. I do wear only titanium and silver(ears) though so that is an issue. If I am a trauma patient and they are concerned about my back and rusk me to the scanner, my cunt will be the last thing they think about. In professional mags, simply covering the piercing with gauze and tape protects the site from burns. (Dittos with tattoos--there has only been one single confirmed case of a burn in tattoo being caused by MR.) There are lots of rumors out there though. If you are uncomfortable, be sure you can remove your jewelry (on your own--kinda awkward in a public bathroom) or get the acrylic for the exam.

Airports
Big Scary. After 9-11, when security was beefed up, I was very, very concerned. My sis bought me tickets to Vegas this past Christmas so I had to go. I wore some hiking boots for the flight so that if I did set off the scanner, I could blame my boots. My cut did not cause a reaction, but the woman doing the scanning said it depended entirely upon the sensitivity it is set upon and that she does sometimes "catch" body jewelry. The boots would have been a good explanation for my family though so that was good. I have a friend that was a prison officer and my inquiries to him were that they can turn the sensitivity uo to pick up the studs in the walls behind you and that if there is any reason to harrass you, they can make it go off. Since I have run into other professional folks in the airport, I will always have a legit and visible excuse available for beign stopped by security. There is no privacy at the checkpoint.

Pain
My labial piercing has given me all kinds of issues. My hood piercing has given me nada. (Okay--no physical issues.) When playing with my clit, I rub my ring on it. I always have a sex toy with me. When getting it pierced, I would rank the pain to an ear piercing. Sharp, intense, mentally frightening. I did not cuss during the piercing itself, but did for the jewelry placement. I wear a 12 guage in my hood. 14-12 is usually recommended. I have a 10 guage in my labia and have read on BME that no piercings anywhere on the body should be under 10 guage in size. I would venture a guess that the person who stated that was a gay male who is a size queen in all areas. A 10 would be too much for me, IMO. The 12 is just right.

I would recommend that you pierce it at the size you want to wear. Stretching is a MAJOR bitch. This tissue is so thin that I had zero noticible swelling. (Think tongue rings--you are pierced there with jewelry that allows for the swelling and that should be changed out fairly soon after that goes down.)

Cost
Don't be cheap. It is your pussy. You do not want allergic reactions or any other bad things happening. If you pay for the cheapest, you deserve to be screwed. Quality costs since it costs someone to be properly trained and experienced. If you are only concerned about being cheap, order a kit off ebay, get drunk, and get your best buddy to do it. They are advertised around 5 bucks.

Advice
Take it all with a grain of salt and do the research. Being lazy is like being cheap. (Again, you deserve to get screwed.)

Good luck.
