George Will made a statement about the Lewinsky scandal, that it was "worse than Watergate." He reasoned that Clinton somehow enlisted the population in his malfeasance with his failure to be forthcoming about his affair (from the beginning of the Clinton administration Republicans attempted to redeem Nixon by comparing Clinton’s invented scandals to Watergate, in which literally hundreds of crimes were committed by dozens of people).

What do you think?

I can't believe they are even in the same ballpark, but I'd like to hear your thoughts.

I'd only point out that Watergate was better because a good movie was made about it.

Give it time there will be a movie for clintongate as well. He is to popular with the female population to not make a lifetime eight o'clock movie. But I like lifetime to so ill probably catch that flick.

I might want to see a ClintonGate movie. What's a good title, "Commander Between her Teeth"?

One of my favorite Redford roles.

Weevs, go see Secretary. It's a great film.

i don't think its ever a good idea to publicly say that so and so is worse then so and so

Oh yeah, Monica blows Bill and then 4 years of Ken Star and Linda Trip.

The feel nauseaous film of the summer.

Lav, coming from the land of yokels and dueling banjos I could see how you might think this is a hot tip.

However, coming from the city with the most important film festival in this hemisphere I saw secretary three months ago.

and It got me good sex with the Missus, so I heartily endorse the reco.

George Will blablabla

Obviously, George also wanted to suck the President's cock and was turned down.

He's just pissed off because he had "access" to Nixon.

Not even close to the same ball park, hell not even the same sport.

The Lewinsky thing was only a huge deal because it was sex and the public LOVES a sex scandal.

I mean if you cut it down to the basics, what's worse? Lying about shredding government documents and tapping facilities? Or lying about getting a hummer from an intern?

Watergate involved everything from the Republicans breaking and entering to bugging the Democrats to covering up the crimes. Clinton got a blowjob.

And can we stop putting the word "gate" after everything that makes it to the Editorial Page of the NY Times?

Man, isn't it great when the older kids show up and edumacate us on things like Watergate, the Bicentennial and those groovy bellbottoms?

Didn't think it was a hot tip, just a simple recommendation. You already saw it - good.

Looking into the camera and lying to the American people, lying under oath while in court, and (allegedly) pressuring others to falsify their own testimony while under oath are bigger issues than a blowjob in the office.

I can't say that all of that is bigger than Watergate, but I do think it's a bigger deal than wishing Strom Thurmond had won an election

thanks for not disappointing me, CE.

There is no difference when it comes to the point that they were both lying, but the devil is in the details.

Yes and no. All of the things you mention relate to his getting a blowjob.

And I don't think it's a bigger deal than having a segregationist as Senate Majority Leader.

It's a thread asking about Watergate you idiot. What did you want me to talk about, Aaron Carter?

Beefcake, there hasn't been a president in our history that hasn't lied to the American public.

Yeah. the next thing you know, we'll have Dixon Carter Leegate, Which will be shortened to DCLgate, or, worse still, Leegate...

You're right.

I've failed in my attempt to be 100% fluffy until the end of the year.
