Im sorry,
Im reading multiple threads all sighting mr. clinton as being some sort of model president..

Excuse me? did anyone here actually take a moment to think about the impact he had on the country? and the fucked up crap he pulled in office?

I mean come ON!

1. He's a fucking liar. jesus fucking christ on a pogo stick, I wouldn't trust him to tell me what color the sky was.
2. His economic policies are JUST NOW hitting their stride. thus, leaving a mess for the current president.
3. Disrepute and dishonor are not valid qualities in a leader.
4. He ran the military ragged, reducing them in force and using them for fucking peace actions. (Why the hell did the marines build mud huts in africa? that sucked)
5. He pardoned CONVICTED CRIMINALS because, they where his buddies, or someone paid him to do so.

and thats just the light stuff, Im too tired to write a disertation on how unpresidential he was at the moment. but damned I wonder sometimes at what the liberal crowd likes.

um............I tend to agree.

America, what a country.

Your idea of hero may be my idea of shitbag...and vice versa. This country has been lacking in the Executive branch since Teddy Roosevelt left office.

** edited to add that Reagan was pretty damn good though.

1. Please send me links to a president who never once lied to the American people, with evidence please.
2. Right, so those two years and the end of his first term and the beginning of his second had nothing to do with him, huh?
3. Leadership often has nothing to do with what kind of person you are.
4. That's right, the military budget should always go unquestioned and used only to create a perpetual war. The Budget needed cutting. If you are going to balance the budget, ALL things have to give up some. With regards to the mud huts, I guess humanitarian aid isn't a priority to you, the Ugly American, huh? I guess they should've shot all the poor africans, huh? Idiot.
5. It's fucking hard to pardon non-convicted criminals. Besides, pardoning criminals and friends is better than pardoning terrorists (Orlando Bosch)

whoever told you leadership is not at least in major part, the ability to project a competent and honorable image, lied to you.

the four years at the end of his first term? That WAS his first term, and he was benefitting from BUSHES policy from before.

notice at the end of his last term and the beginning of bushes the economy was already going to crap?

the military budget, should be better spent, not reduced. say on powered exoskeletons, or developing lighter equipment for infantrymen. or developing better radar jamming devices for the navy and airforce.

Soldiers should not be doing humanitarian aid, they should be training. always training, and learning their chosen trade. we have the peace corps for humanitarian aid. Knowing the proper mud to grass ratio for a sturdy wall does not help a soldier in combat... unless he's a combat engineer I guess, but those guys are fucking scary anyway.

and im not even gonna touch on the pardons, I put that on as a cherry on top of the icecream. at least not at this point anyway.

I am with Aquila on the subject of pardons. I have mixed feelings on the subject of the military budget. I fully agree with Spin though, that often (not always) being a good person has nothing to do with how good of a leader you are.

See Hitler.

Sorry I meant two. I edited and corrected.

And giving people three hundred dollars (Then making them give it back) is supposed to fix it? War with Iraq is supposed to fix it? How is Bush choosing to fix our economy? Ignoring it.

How are you going to get food to those under the rule of despotic warlords? How are you going to give humanitarian aid to those who are afraid to leave their houses because of their oppressive leaders? Humanitarian aid only works when the military divides it.

Besides, our purpose in the world should not be to kill everybody but to be able to help those who need it. The soldiers can do both.

Hmmm, let's see.

We are gearing up to get ourselves in a bloody shooting match in Iraq over what? Weapons of mass Destruction including BIOLOGICAL (Anthrax, Smallpox, Botulinum) and CHEMICAL agents supplied along with developement and usage instructions supplied by whom? Good old Ronald Reagan so that his pal Saddam could wipe out a few thousand Iranians for him. Funny thing is Ollie North was selling weapons to the Iranians so that the Reagan administration could stir things up in El Salvador by funding insurrection.

Reagan pumped 3 billion dollars worth of military aid into Afghanistan to fight those commie bastard Soviets, thus prolonging a war that the Soviets could have finished. Drawing the war out led to a total destruction of the Afghani infrastructure and society. Then when the Soviets pulled out in defeat we said attaboy and left them in ruin. So guess who takes over? Yep the wonderful Taliban and their good buddy Osama (CIA trained no less). I wonder if life was much freer and democratic under the Taliban than it was under the Soviets?

Reagan was a real winner all right.

Bush 41 pardoned criminals also. Caspar Weinberger for one and in doing so enabled another criminal to get out of his conviction (Oliver North) He was just lucky enough to be able to do it before the indictments got around to him.
