Clever Reducing Plan!

God, I made a terrible error the other day when I went to pick up Piglet from her orchestral course. The apples and plums and even the raspberries went in the bicycle panniers fine, along with a multipack of fruit drinks for her packed lunches and my Radley handbag. But I never should've bought the watermelon!

I still don't know how I got home with the apples, plums, raspberries, multipack of fruit drinks, Radley handbag, folding music stand, violin in its case and watermelon on a Landrover Ascot bicycle.

PS, it's quite true - cycling is a great form of calorie burning exercise - and non-loadbearing so if you have got crap knees like me, you can still cycle. (I mean crap knees in the sense of one of them has no cartilage or cruciate ligament any more after an unfortunate rugby accident, not crap as in not good-looking although of course my knees are not anywhere near as great to look at as Oggbashan's ;) )

Get paid for it. Get a job as a bike messenger. In San Francisco. Push heavy loads up steep hills, burn zillions of calories, drink lots of free coffee, stay lean. It works.

You might also try it in the Yorkshire Dales or even the Moors.
