ooc: This thread i am hoping to make about not only Brinna but the whole clan and is ...open to any and all who wish to join... Please fell free.. and enjoy.

icc:
Lady Brianna McCallister had become Liard of Clan McCallister shortly after her father, and brother had been killed, protecting their border's from an invading English knight three years ago. She was a petite woman, though small she had a very fine hour glass figure, with raven hair that fell to her hip's while braided, and violet colored eyes.

Most Scot's don’t care much to follow a woman, but Lady Brinna as they called her, was different from most. While she did take great care of the keep she also visited the village helping where she could, she also hunted, and helped to make repairs to their home's along with the men. She was a strong and healthy woman. Her sword arm, and hand to hand still needed some work, but her skill with a bow was equal if not superior to most of the men.

Her father had lost her mother to an invading clan when Brinna was only three, because she didn’t know how to defend herself, and vowed that Brinna would at least have a fighting chance should she ever be taken, and God help any man who dared. Her father had been proud of both his son, and his daughter's skills. He had been a very honorable man before his death, and well respected in the Highland's.

Lady Brinna paced back and forth in front of the hearth in the great hall. A crumpled letter held tightly in her fist. She was dressed in a hunter green gown with silver brocade. Her hair braided in two braids at the side's of her head with a larger braid connecting them down her back.

Held in place by two silver band's one at the back of her head where the braids connected, and one at the end, holding it all in place. The only other ornament she wore was the necklace her mother had given her, a simple silver Celtic knot. The chain it hung from also made of silver.

“How dare James do this to me? How can i marrie a man I've never met,” she said talking to herself. “Why now three years after my father's death, now he deams I must take a husband.”

King James' missive read.
“At the end of a fortnight ye must be wed, or Give control of ye'r lands to ye'r cousin. If ye ha not, I shall make the choice for ye.

"I am sending ye my best, and most trusted Liard to you. He will be arriving shortly after you receive this letter. He left right after I sent out the courier, I beleave he will make a suitable husband,"

Brinna didn’t care if he made suitable husband. Her concern was for her people. Would he make suitable Laird for her people, or was he just after more land. Worse how do I explain to my people what King James has ordered. I'd better tell them now before he and his men arrive.

The servants continued to set the high table, and prepare for dinner. Some of the maid's looking in Brinna's direction worriedly. It had been awhile since they had seen her this upset.

All she had told them after reading the missive that the courier had brought earler was that they were to be expecting the arrival of a Liard as well as her cousin, and that they would be arriving if not this day then on the morrow. As she went up to bathe, changing from her tunic, and leggings to the dress she now wore.

Turning to one of the serving maids Brinna called her over. “Lana please go and tell Ian that I should like to speak with him, and tell him that it is important.”

Quickly Lana left the hall to search out Ian, Brianna's father's old companion, and her most loyal friend. When he arrived as she had asked. Brianna sat with him in front of the hearth, and showed him James’ letter.

When he was finished reading it he nodded and assured her that he would prepare the villagers, and let the men know. So that the Laird and her cousin would have safe passage upon McCallister lands until this was done.

"James gave ye the three years that he has outta respect for your Da Lass. So be grateful ye received at least that much. Else ye would ha been wed sooner. Ha faith in James M'Lady he'll no let ye down."

Brinna watched her friend go, cringing a little inside at his choice of words. She had always known that the men would prefer to follow a man, and now they would have the chance to do so again.

Brianna hoped she would not fail them and, that though she did not wish to wed, she hoped James choice would be best for her people. If not James would choose for her, and she would rather be wed than to see her people fall under her cousin's rule.

Gazing into the hearth lost in thought Brinna looked up as one of the lads came running in.... Ma Lady... Ma Lady they've arrived....the Laird and his men have arrived. Brinna smiled. Thinking news did travel fast.

Closing her eye's, and taking a deep breath. Brinna rose to greet her guests as they entered the Great Hall.

“A Laird's Welcome to ye and ye'r men my lord , ye must be tired after ye'r long journey. Arrangements ha been made for ye'r rooms. If ye would care ta rest, or perhaps bathe after ye'r journey there is time yet afore the evening meal is served," Brianna said courteously to the Laird who entered the Great Hall.

Hey......I read it and I like it. Haven't had a character in a kilt for awhile. So what kind of characters do you wish for this tale of politics and clan adventures? Limits?

Mysterious Gaurdian Assassin

(I always enjoy playing a side character in an avenue such as this, main characters are locked into a fasset of trying to win the heart of the other main character while side characters can have as much freedom as they wish and are only obligated to the main character they choose. That being said let us begin)

With only the briefest flash of a mixture of blacks and browns almost as if the shadows moved for an instant then returned to normal did he make his way into the Great Hall. His life was servitude it had taken him many years to accomplish the training he needed to serve one man faithfully, and many more years to find that man he would call master. He lived in the shadows of his servitude never revealing his location to anyone even his master hardly knew where he was only when he was called did he appear. He was from the east and he went by the only name anyone could weed out of him, Gin. His service was mainly the protection of the man he had come to call master. The only man he had found that was worth his salt as a leader of others. He had killed many a fake leader to find one that suited his demands.

Quickly and silently, barely a whisper of sound and only the briefest movement he leaped up to the rafters of the tall ceiling. He looked down at his master and finally noticed the woman. His eyes narrowed peering into her trying to determine what type of woman she was. His master could not have a weak woman, it was with this thought that he felt her pressence begin to shift his direction, quickly he darted to another shadow he chould not afford to be seen by her or his master. He was invisible a shadow that glided in and out of the light with ease. To be seen by those who were not a shadow when he did not wish it so would be unforgiveable. He was surprised how quickly she had felt his eyes, perhaps this woman is suitible for his master. Only time would tell, quickly he wondered if she would be stronger than his master and if so would his service go to her? It was a brief thought and most truly, only time would tell.

As Brinna walked forward, and waited for the Liard infront of her to reply she notied he brought with him sevrel men at arms sevral of them looked fairly tired and worn, and she wondered if he had been called away from battle for he didnt appeare to be any happer about this situation than she was.

Watching the men she thought she saw a shadow move up twords the rafters, and looked up for a moment to check. Seeing notheing she turnd back to the Liard, and smiled determand to make the best of this situation. Tho she may not like her new Liard, or he her only time would tell. At least the clan wouldnt fall to her cousin.

ooc: WOO! I'll have in! I got a character in mind.

Angus McCallister, apprentice to his father, Robert McCallister the local blacksmith, had been hammering away on a piece of iron that, he hoped, was to become a grand claymore. Although only in his early 20's, James already had in impressive physique, having been practically raised at the anvil. He had scruffy red hair, and a thick, but short beard. The most remarkable thing about him, however, was his piercing blue eyes, the colour of ice.

Between heavy strikes with his smithing hammer, he heard someone ring the town bell. Walking out from the smithy, he was supprised to see a rather well presented laird from one of the other clans riding into town, complete with several warriors who, James guessed, were probably getting on in years.

Grubling to himself, he watched them pass. Quite what they were doing here was beyond him. After all, he thaught, Lady Brinna had done a fine job of ruling their lands and keeping everyone safe over the last few years

Seeing the liard infront of her nod she Lady Brinna called over one of the servents and had him lead. The soon to be new Laird to his chambers.

After checking to see that all was in preperation for the meal she moved up to her own chambers and switched into a par of hose boot's and tunic. Pulling her hair back, and grabbing her bow and quiver she headed out to the archery range near the lists to practice her bow, before the evening begain. Apparently this new liard woulna even conced to speak with her as of yet. What would he think of her skills with a bow and sword???? she wonderd.

Smiling she waved to their blacksmith Angus McCallister as she watched him begin his work on a new sword, armor, or horse shoe. He had been the clans blacksmith sence his father had passed on, and he did a fine job. He had repared her own armor a time or two in the past as she came in from practicing her sword from the lists or one of her men at arms armor...

Seeing my mistress wave to me I hurried over to answer her summons.. "Yes'um... I mean Yes M'Lady how may I be of sevice to you." Looks to M'Lady to make sure that I would not be in trouble later for my slip up. Noticing that she had not noticed I pretend that I had not said anything.

As I listen intently to her words, eyeing the man before us dressed in all his finery. He wasn't bad to look at but I noticed he wouldn't say anything to M'Lady which I could tell frustrated her.

Nodding my head in understanding, before turning to the Lord saying, "Tis this way M'Lord, please follow me." Moving towards the stairs keeping my pace to a slow one since this man seemed to have problems walking very fast. Thinking to myself, that will change soon if he is to be Lord here. We are always going and running to keep up tho we had never been unseige before.

OOC: Beth, small petite if you blink you would miss her except her intelligent green eyes. Always Quiet and always willing to be right there to help as she can, just turning 19 winters old with long white blonde hair, fair of skin, dressed in a simple dress and apron. Soft speaker, never speaks unless spoke to, has always had a fair heart towards one man but is to shy to say which one.

Angus looked up from his work as Ladi Brianna walked past in the direction of the archery range. She turned and waved to him, making him grin and do a half-bow. Putting down his work in progress, Angus walked to the back of the smithy. He had been workingon something for weeks back here, awaiting the proper time to present it.

It was truly the greatest blade he had created. He had used only the finest smelted iron in it's construction, and traded a good few of his blades and armour for some gold and jewels that he had worked into it's crosspiece. He had also managed to obtain some leather from the town tannery, and finished it off with a hilt, embossed with the clan McCallister crest. It now layed apart from his other works, carefully wrapped in furrs

Picking it up, he walked off back out of his smithy, and toward the archery range

(I was thinking of playing a shipwrecked, Dutch natural philosopher but I don't think I have the time.)

Again he was silent as the shadows, following nearly her every movement and giving her privacy only when she changed her clothing. Though he did find her attractive, he was a man of honor and would not steal a glance on a lady who did not welcome his eyes. He was shadow not a pervert. Still a small distaste was on his lips, his master had not bothered to speak to her. A woman who so far he belived was his masters equal, perhaps he had been frightened at the thought of not being able to speak down to someone? Were this to be true his master would not be the man he thought he was and he would have to terminate his service with him. He did not like this idea, it would mean a failure on his own part for not having seen this weekness earlier. Perhaps though it is only because that he had never met one who was equal to his master before this day. Only time would tell the truth of his suspicions.

He hid in a tall pine nearly to the top, his light feet and skilled balence barely caused any shift in the tree at all only that a wind might make would be percievable. He spied down apon archery range, waiting for her physical strength to show forth.

Beth

Giving a quick nod and excusing myself from this man before making my way quickly back to M'Lady to see to her needs. Knowing that now is the time for her archery to be in progress. Moving past the smith, before finding M'Lady on the range bow in hand.

It was always a glorious sight to see her practicing, tho on secret occasion she would loosen some of her strings. Then those of us in the Keep would joke and enjoy sharing on her time with the range, today was not to be one of those days. Noticing that M'Ladies jaw was tight in anger or frustration I could not tell, but being smart enough not to cause her notice I stand quietly waiting near by. Knowing that if she has need of me that she just need to whisper and I would be right there.

Brinna took her stance aiming at the target at the end of the range. Taking her time before she fired as she saw Beth out of the corner of her eye come near to watch. Tho she felt other eye's on her as well she was not sure where they came from, but then it wasnt uncommon for her people to watch her practice.

Letting the arrow fly, enjoying the twang of the bow, and the soft thud as the arrow hit its mark. Brinna slowly begain to relax., taking what joy in her skill she could.

As she notched another arrow and let it go. She new she really should be practicing her sword skill's, and she decided she would head for the lists after the meal this eve, or early on the morrow depending on how the evening went. Mayhaps Ian the captin of the guard would enjoy training her some more.

Smiling as yet another arrow found its target. Brinna turnd seeing Beth, and Angus. Smiling she lowerd her bow, and placed the arrow in her hand back in its quiver, she walked twords them.

Greetings to the both of ye.... What is it ye ha there Angus?? She asked stopping in front of them. Getting a closer look at the wepon in his hands. It was a beautifuly crafted sword, and looked to be well ballanced.

Brinna always took great pride in her peoples skills, and Angus was just as great a crafter if not better than his father had been. Tis a fine blade Angus.. Anyone should count themselves blessed to weld such a blade, not only for the McCallister emblem, but for the skill that went into the blade its self. She said smiling.

Angus smiled. Lady Brinna always did have a way with words! As intellegent as she was beutiful. "It's eh new blade ah've been crafen fer yeh. Ah was gunnehsave it fer eh special accasion, but ah think now would be eh good tame teh present yeh with et"

Holding it by the blade, Angus presented the hilt to Lady Brinna for her to take

Brinna smiled as she took the blade. Moving back from the others, so they wouldnt be hurt, and tested its blanace and the weght of it in her hands. I thank ye Angus. I shall tresure it always and give it a good test on the morrow in the lists..

Turning to Beth she said. Shall we head in then.. tis almost time to dine and i shouldnt keep the Liard waiting to long. I pray he will make a good Liard for our people.. Nodding to Angus Brinna headed back twords the keep. She new Beth would follow shortly.

The quicker she cleand herself up, and changed back into her gown from earler the better they would be. Brinna hadnt stoped to think too much before she came out to the range that this liard maynot approve of her habbits. Ahh well she thought he was na liard here yet...

Beth

"Yes M'Lady, shall I fix your hair for you this night? Nothing to spectacular, just simple and yet for you M'Lady elegant? I will need to brush out your dress for this morn for you while you are taking your bath, shouldn't be to long."

Moving quietly ahead of everyone else, I rush in giving orders to those who need them. "M'Lady needs her tub and hot water brought up immediately." Then quickly hurrying up the stairs to M'Lady's appartments to make sure the hearth was burning warmly. Setting out all the required items for her bath and dressings, before grabbing up the garment to be brushed out. Taking it down the stairs and outside to brush it quickly, making it back just intime to help M'Lady into her bath.

Yes that would be wonderful Beth thank ye. Brinna said as she hurried up the stairs, and smiled as she heard Beth calling for her bath, and telling some of the other maids what was needed. Brinna sometimes wonderd what she would ever do with out Beth.

Quickly undressing, once the servents had left, after bringing in the tub and hot water. She let her hair fall down her back in waves. Turning as Beth enterd to help her in the tub, and wash her long hair.

The hot water felt good on her skin and helped her to relax. After getting out of the bath Brinna dressed in the gown Beth had layed out for her, and let her do her hair. What think ye Beth of this Liard thus far??

Beth

"I think he is not so talkative M'Lady, as for the rest M'Lady I shall hold my own council and wait to see what he does. Tho I do not think he will take kindly to your ways, for you are independant which in my way of thinking is good. Your people look to you for their needs and wants, they care for you and well most men find that intimidating to my finding."

Washing M'Ladies hair carefully, before helping her to stand wrapping the sheet around her. Before making her comfortable before the fire, taking the brush making sure to remove all the tangles from her hair. Making sure that it shone with a brillance, before placing a twist and tuck here and there.

Offering the previously brushed dress to M'Lady for her inspection as I continue to listen to her talk about the new Laird. Perhaps the man wouldn't be so bad, unless he tried to tame our wild Mistress. Then the battle would be on and I knew he would lose for none of her kinsmen would allow him to over throw her for any reason.

Aye tis what i am afraid of.. I canna chage who i am, and truth be told i doona want to. She said smiling as Beth finnished with her hair, and helping her into her gown. Brinna went to stand before the ovel mirror in her dressing room.

Thank ye Beth ye did a wonderful job. Brinnas hair was done up elegently, and the dress was beautiful. Brinna's purple eyes flashed with pleasure as she looked at Beths handy work. I do beleave i shall do ye proud this eve Beth. Now mayhaps tis time i go and dine with this Liard. Mayhaps he will say something this eve at table. She said smiling to Beth as she decended the stairs for the evening.

Beth

Blushing slightly with M'Ladies compliments, "Thank you M'Lady you make it easy to look beautiful I think. Now go show that new Laird of ours a thing or two, he'll not be trying to push you around to much I am thinkin."

I watch as M'Lady leaves the room, smiling softly to meself, this Laird whom ever he was I believed was in for a rough time of it with our Lady. She was one that would never be held down nor stabled. A wild spirit with love to give, she needed someone to hold her and nurture her without the problems of men folk.

Giving a shake of my head I begin cleaning the mess from M'Ladie bath. Putting things away and gathering her discarded clothing to be brushed and put out to air before being put away.

Liard Duncan McNeil sat at the dinner table with not much to say. He was busy eating and most knew as he ate one was not to disturb him unless with important business or information. Biting a piece of meat off the bone he laid it down and wiped his mouth with a rag before looking around. The nearly six foot two man, who weighed a good two hundred pounds, was a man that no one dared upset. His medium length dark brown hair and his startling blue eyes pierced the soul as well as his very strong and wide frame frightened even the biggest men. For a Liard he was no pansy as seemed more and more were turning out to be in this day and age. Unlike most he fought, on the front line, with his men till death or victory.

Watching as the Lady Brianna entered the hall Duncan immediately stopped eating, stopped doing anything, and watched her with eyes of interest unlike his looks from before. She looked like a woman now, a leader still, but truly a woman of upper class. It was the way he liked to see her, he wished not for a petty warrior or normal class woman, but he didn't want an upper class ruffian either. Standing as she approached as did the other men as they saw him rise, he finally introduced himself.

"Excuse my silence previously M'Lady, but I was tired from the battle I was pulled away from. I am Liard Duncan McNeil, and it is a great honor to be in your presence. I know this is an odd way to meet, but I hope our union will grow in friendship, love, and create a lasting security that your father and clan have kept for many years." With a smile as much as a sign of great pride he bowed and then sat down.

"I must say though, that you do have some mighty fine cooks," he said as he looked over at her. "After dinner I would like to discuss with you in private more important details to our union and what that will mean towards power relations and such between us. I have not come here to intrude on what good progress you have made here," he said and then continued to eat.

Brinna had walked down the stairs, and entered the great hall. As she walked forward she studdied her intended. He was a giant of a man, Handsome with the most wonderful eyes she had seen in some time. Brinna smiled as she rememberd the tails of the Berserkers and their ice blue eyes, but then those were only tails told children.

Stopping before him as he stood and introduced himself. Brinna accepted that he had been tired and that had been why he had ignored her previously, and would forgive him this time. Tho her temper had been pricked everyone deserved at least one break. I thank ye m'lord ye honor me and my kins men with ye'r presance as well. I too hope that we may become friends, and as ta peace well Tis my father, and brother aye that ha repelled the english pigs, but tis i and my kin who ha kept the boarders safe these few years. She said smiling as she sat at table with him.

Brinna filled her treancher with food as he complemented the cooks and mentond speaking privetly with her later. Stiffinging slightly Brinna was na looking forward to this discussion. Looking over at him as he begain to eat she said. I shall tell the cooks tha ye enjoyed or fair this eve, and it dosna matter, wether ye will intrude or no. I would rather ha a stranger who may come ta care for my clan than see my foul, greedy cousin lay claim ta all i hold dear. She said her temper rising at the thought of her cousin, and what she now had to do.

Reolizing her temper was getting the better of her, and some of her clans men had heard her words she quickly looked down to hide the anger in her eyes, She new that if she didnt start accepting him, and the situation now, then her clan wouldnt eather.

Aye we should talk later. Mayhaps ye would care ta ride with me ta morrow after i've seen ta....... some things She paused a moment . Looking up at him haveing to think about her words. He was a handsome devil but what did she know of him.

She still didnt know how he would feel about her using a sword or bow and wasnt quite ready to find out. Maybe after she got to know him a little better, but then if he didnt know how could he accept it. She wouldnt change her ways even if he was against it... Ye can look over the grounds, and we can talk then. She said taking her eyes from his and looking to her own plate begain to eat.

Slipping down the stairs quietly making my way to the kitchens. If I was lucky I would make it out to the gardens before anyone realized I was gone. This would give me time to enjoy while M'Lady dined with her soon to be new Laird.

As I past by the main hall leading into the hall I catch the sound of a man's voice, drawing my attention. So the Laird does know how to speak, grinning to myself and shaking my head slightly. This ... this was going to truly be a great battle, one I hoped did not change our clan to greatly.

Still smiling I continue on my way, grabbing a small bit of meat and bread on my way out. Gaining the gardens I slow my pace taking in the fragrance of the night, enjoying the quiet. Walking slowly pruning a few flowers here and there as I go, taking me time to just relax.

Lady Akira MacGregor scuttled down the stairs in a flurry of activity as was customary for her, her tiny frame flitting down the stairs like a faerie. Excitedly, she darted down the hallway, silver-blonde waist-length hair following her like streamers. Vivid cobalt blue eyes danced from one corner of the room and hallway to the next.

Lady Akira was like a sister to Brianna, albeit a slightly annoying younger one. Akira had been adopted by Brianna's parents' when she was 8 years old, and both of her parents were killed in an English raid. Now Brianna was the matriach, and Akira looked to her for guidance.

Akira was a changeling in appearance, with long straight silver-blonde hair that appeared to be spun from moonbeams, and bright cobalt eyes the colour of a stormy sea. Oftentimes, she would have a faraway look in her eyes, as if she were dreaming. A sylph-like figure, Akira barely hit 4'10" and was dwarfed by everyone around her except for children. A slim waist and curved hips and breasts completed a well-proportioned figure.

She had a penchant for purple and blue, and today was wearing a slim fitting ice blue velvet gown trimmed with silver that matched her loose flowing hair. The only ornament she wore was a small silver necklace with a sapphire pendant.

Akira came barreling down the stairs at top speed, and ran into the great hall. "BRIANNA! BRIANNA! BRIANN.....a..." she stopped when she saw the giant man, her jaw dropping.

"An' who are ya?" she asked the man without any pretense, staring at him, not realizing how rude she was being, or how angry she may make Brianna.
