Hey sci-fi junkies and asteroid fanatics! Instead of watching "Armageddon" again tonight, you can direct your gaze to the heavens and watch a real asteroid the size of a city block zip past our planet. The hurtling space rock was discovered by Australia-based intergalactic space sleuth Rob McNaught and his colleagues, who spied the behemoth through a telescope earlier this week. Thankfully, they say there's no danger of the up to 2,300 foot wide rock smashing into us, but astronomers operating the Slooh Space Camera are excited that it will pass within 3.35 million miles of Earth, and they're hoping to catch it on camera

I read this as "cock-sized asteroid."

I really need to get laid.

Let's see, 3.35 million miles is well in excess of ten times the mean distance between the earth and the moon (238,857 miles) which makes this cheesy bit of artwork the biggest crock of astronomical shit anyone will likely be asking us to swallow for awhile.

If this is what the earth looks like from the moon, then it would appear ten times smaller if one was standing on the asteroid. Not your fault K-bear. Just sayin.'

Why not have the military send up a test missle and see if we can knock it into smaller pieces going in every direction?

Idiots...

If we saw it coming we could have gathered up the pacific garbage island and shot it into the thing with a set of well-aimed dart-like rockets.

...

Well, it's too late NOW.

So it will miss us by a few million miles, seems the fuss was all for McNaught.
