Cinco de Mayo West Palm Beach style

Here in West Palm Beach we are having our annual Sunfest. Tonight is one of the two nights they are going to have fireworks. Well this also falls on May 5th, a rather large and sometime boisterouse holiday.

When they started the fireworks for Sunfest the locals decided it was time for their fireworks to start as well. Well their fireworks consist of firecrackers, bottle rockets, the occasional Cherry Bomb and firearms pointed skyward. In other words it sounds like a small war is going on outside right now.

Now I'm not el stupido, I expected this tonight so the car is parked well inside the Car Port with a rather thick chunk of steel in front of it to protect it from ill aimed shots. (My wife and I are also staying inside. Thankfully the walls pointing inland are thick cement block with few windows.)

All in all a rather interesting evening for us.

i miss fireworks. the ones in CT were over the ocean and so brilliant and loud, you could hear them forever. you could also watch the shows from fisher's island, pawcatuck, misquamcut and even long island.

i would have thought, since we have a huge population of mexicans, that tonight would be a bit crazy but its quiet...
we've celebrated for them with our special blend of magaritas.

sounds like my ideas of nice cool evenings and getting hot and sweaty.

The only thing I miss from New England is sitting in a hot tub on a nice cold evening and making the water even hotter.
