CHYOO on Wikipedia!

I've been thinking about doing a Wiki for CHYOO so that we can plot its history, write out the rules and policies, etc. I went on to Wikipedia, and BAM! CHYOO is on the map, right here!

OK, so it's not quite a whole page, but it's mentioned and, compared with the other Addventure stories (I quite like that, ADD-venture...very clever :) ), it really stands out as the best. CHYOO is comparatively fairly well laid out, it allows you to create your own story from scratch, it allows anyone to add any subsequent threads, and the writing quality is far superior (except perhaps for HULKDA :D ).

Anyhoo, I digress. What does everyone think about a CHYOO wiki? Does anyone know a good provider to make a wiki with? I so far have looked at PBWiki, which is free, but the site will get bombarded with ads. Any recomendations? Would anyone be willing to write on a CHYOO wiki?

I know a lot of the buggy idiosyncracies of the site, but I'd wait on writing about those til CHYOO3 is here.

Any idea when that may be though? I don't want to sound sceptical, but I don't think we CHYOOsters are a high priority for the mods.

But yes, you're right. I could probably plot the history of CHYOO, and write the basic rules (as seen on the FAQ), since presumably they won't change.

BTW, Anyone know the history of CHYOO1? I came on the scene just after CHYOO2 was released.

Hey,

Heads up: CHYOO 3 is still at least 6 weeks away. I apologize for the long delay but I guarantee you that it'll be worth the wait.

setic

Made that post about a month and a half ago (that would make the 6 weeks up about 10 days ago), nothing since :(

Your mod can remove that thread if it's spam, no?

Anyway... since you're sort of the neigbours here at Lit, I have been peeking and wondering what this whole Chyoo thing was. I have not been reading all the threads and I have some idea, although the Wikipedia page did not make me go "aha" all the way... :D

So, can anyone tell, in short, what Chyoo is to an absolute Chyoo-dummy?

Regrettably, after the moderator removes the thread, it still shows up in the summary view when looking at the Chyoo forums as a group. The link may be clicked, but goes to a "you don't have permission to view this page" page.

The Wikipedia article is a little on the tech-geeky side ("primary key", "node", et cetera), so the short answer is:

Chyoo is an erotic story web site with many readers (either guests or logged-in members) and a goodly number of writers.

See the Chyoo FAQ for a guide to the site in the form of a story.

Writers can submit stories to the site, which must be approved by one of the moderators before they are visible to any other members or guests.

Most of the stories are in English, with the non-English language stories dominated by Deutsche et un ou deux en Français.

A reader starts from the title page of the story, where he or she may be prompted to enter a "First Name" and "Last Name" which will be used in the story for the main character's name (or occasionally the main character's main love interest, or the first and last names are interpreted as the main pair of characters). Most stories don't ask for these.

After the title page, a story is divided into "threads", which might be thought of as pages or short chapters. Each thread ends either with "The End", or with a question which can have one or more alternate answers. The alternate answers to the question lead to different threads which take the story in different directions. A reader may follow these alternatives like different paths through a garden, to give different plots and endings to the story. Many stories meander without any proper end.

A question may ask for a choice by the main character such as "Do you open the door?", or a resolution of a circumstantial question such as "Who was in the car they just collided with?" or a development of an open question such as "What happens next?"

A writer may develop threads in their own stories, or may submit a thread to another author's story to provide an answer to an end-of-thread question. The story author may accept the contributed thread, may alter it in any way, or may reject it. A story author may choose to give advance permission to certain writers and accept their threads without review, or even delegate the ability to edit their story and make judgments on others' submitted threads.

There is a small main core of frequent writers, though people drift in and drift out. Some of the longtime writers were selected by Chyoo's management to be writer-moderators, reviewing and approving stories.

Welcome to our neighborhood, M's girl!

Thank you, Zingiber, for answering my question in such detail! I will have a look there, just out of curiousity, but I do get the picture somewhat after your explanation. Now my next question is: how is this related to Literotica (or: is it?). I would suspect the two are connected because otherwise Literotica would not have created a forum dedicated to Chyoo?

Oh, and thanks for the welcome! :D

CHYOO was created by one of the Literotica creators (or at least I believe him/her to be), setic. The two sites actually have very little to do with each other, apart from sharing forum space.

And sex. Don't forget the sex.

I've always thought of CHYOO as being the interactive (and often ignored) arm of Literotica. The largest problem with CHYOO is that I seriously don't think many people actually know about it.
