Hey all, sorry about my absense from the forum, I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the msg on chyoo's front page about 3.0 being coded?

OK, I've been away. Couple of questions:

-Who is setic?
-What happened to ofhabit?
-Will CHYOO3 replace CHYOO2 or the existing CHYOO3 (i.e. will the website be chyoo.com or chyoo.net?)
-Is this an improvement of the existing CHYOO3 or a total rewrite?
-Can we see any work-in-progress?
-More importantly, are we going to see an inclusion of more reader-defined names than {FIRST_NAME} AND {LAST_NAME}?
-MOST importantly, are we going to get more than 4 threads maximum?

This CHYOO3 announcement is for chyoo.com, so it will update the current interface for chyoo.com. setic is the person in charge of the changes. I believe it to be a complete rewrite, but not entirely sure. Setic has been informed of the desire for the expanded reader-defined inserts.

I'm not sure about >4 threads.

The question is why you would need more than four options. It is pretty easy to expand it to 16 options just by putting in a short transition thread. I have not seen many stories that had more than two or three good options off of them.

I know, and I agree, but I think the option should be there. I think the whole thing looks neater. For some stories, like Create a Fembot, I think it's essential. I also have started linking several threads together in my story, Fun with the Family, and it can start getting complicated. With the likes of Fun with the Family, the surprise your girlfriend has promised you, here, is slowly becoming a pivotal moment of the story. Ideally, having more than 4 options would be a neater way of presenting it.

In some cases it is good to have more than 4 options. For example:
- if you have a thread where you have to select a character you can offer a choice between a lot more than 4 characters without having to create extra threads such as "more choices" and "additional options"
- at certain decision points in a story, such as "Any news?" - I'm sure it is possible to come up with a lot more than 4 choices in such a case

So in some cases it would be useful to have a larger number of choices...
