Some people are angry about Columbus. Aside from him, how would the outcome of this story be any different (as sad as it may be)? Did he do something that other explorer's weren't going to do eventually? Are there "nice" conquerers? The way I see it, we seem to want to rewrite history and happy 21st century morals an attitudes. I also think we try to unrealistically idealize a different outcome.

People are petitioning to get rid of Columbus Day. They're defacing his statue. I'm just asking how this story would have turned out differently with respect to the exploitation a of native people and the land. Capisce?

Or Californian independence? But we worship CC here. We even have a sausage named after him. A big, thick chub, just what we'd expect of a Genovese world-changer (via his bad math).
