Just an idea to play along with ...

CHARITY:

Standing with my drink I watch as my friend dances with the cute looking guy who's been watching her half the night.
I take a sip of my drink and look around the room.
Perhaps this was a mistake.
I hardly know anyone here ... if anyone ...
I wave and smile as she catches my attention.
I see her giggling as she leaves the floor with her admirer.
She's heading outside and I'm left stood on my own.

I bite back a sigh and wish her luck.

I secretly check my watch.

Is it too early to sneak off home?

Christmas party

I see her standing with her drink, alone
and looking around. I make my way over to
her. Can I get her to dance? Perhaps buy her
a drink? Think , think , I tell myself as I get
nearer.

Shes lovely and allureing, drawing me like
a magnet. I just knew this was going to be
the girl that would change my half hearted
night. I was not doing to good in the honey
hunting this night, but I was fixing to find out
if my luck was changing.

What line do I use, "your feet hurt? cause
youve been running thru my mind all night."
I thought, "or the one , can I have your
phone number cause I lost mine?" That just
wasn't me. Might work for my friend Tom, put
its to geekish for me.

There she was about to be in front of me.
"Think boy think," as I stepped up to her.
"Honesty, the best policy," go for it.

"Hi, Im Bart," extended my hand. "Say, I
was wondering if I could buy you a drink,
and we could perhaps talk about why were
talking to each other. Or even dance?" I asked.

I smiled and tilted my weight to one side,
trying to look cool. M,y muscular frame towered
over her, so I tried not to look to intimadating.

Charity

I begin to plan how to make my escape when suddenly there's a guy holding out a hand to me in greeting.

"Hi, Im Bart,"

I automatically put my hand idn his.
His is so much bigger!
I smile up uncertainly.

"Say, I was wondering if I could buy you a drink,
and we could perhaps talk about why were
talking to each other. Or even dance?"

I eye him carefully.
He's a big guy ... but ... he seems friendly enough.
I glance over my shoulder, but there is no sign of my friend.

"Hello... My name's Charity ... "

I tell him and smile uncertainly.

"I'm with a ... friend but ... "

I catch his eye as he watches me and blush.
Damn ... bad habit!

"A .... white wine please ... "

I tell him quietly and run a nervous hand through the blonde hair falling at my shoulders and wonder why he wants to speak to me.

Christmas party

"Hello... My name's Charity ... "

I took her small frail hand in comparisson
to mine. And shook it lightly, her softness
alone sparked a keen intrest.

(I tell him and smile uncertainly. "I'm with a ...
friend but ... "I catch his eye as he watches
me and blush.Damn ... bad habit!)

I was wondering if she was looking for a
way out of our casual encounter. Till she
spoke.

("A .... white wine please ... " I tell him quietly
and run a nervous hand through the blonde
hair falling at my shoulders and wonder why
he wants to speak to me.)

The waitress was taking orders from the customers
just down from us. I motion for her to come over,
and she motions me back with her finger up, that she
would be just a moment.

I turn to Charity, and a big smile crawled across
my face.

"What brings you to the Christmas party, Ms? Charity..."
I asked, inquisitive. As I look to see if she's wearing a
wedding band. "Bad habit boy," I tell myself, "you
should always look at the hand before opening your
mouth." I thought.

I was about to say something when the waitress
walked up, "What can I get you two?"

"White wine for the lady, and a jack and coke for
me." I said. She rushed off jotting down our order
and stopped at the couple next to us and continued
taking care of her customers needs.

Charity

I watched him call for the waitress and returned his smile.

"What brings you to the Christmas party, Ms? Charity..."

I considered what to tell him as he gave the drinks order.
We watched the waitress move away and then he turned back to me.

"Ohh well ... seemed like a good idea at the time ... you know how it is ... "

I told him vaguely.
(don't tell him you hardly know anyone here)

"I came to keep a friend company ... "

My voice trailed off as I saw Nikki crossing the floor the same guy still in tow.
I couldn't help being amused and smiled as she grinned and raised her eyes suggestively at me.
God ... I hope he hadn't seen that!

I stood there swaying to the music and
every once in awhile she would look to the
dance floor, I would look her up and down.
She was pretty and sensual the way she
toyed with her hair.

("Ohh well ... seemed like a good idea at
the time ... you know how it is ... "She said.)

"Yeh, know what you mean." I replied.
God that seemed lame I thought, as I
watched for the waitress to come back
with our drinks.

("I came to keep a friend company ... ")
She said, which explained the sudden
glances to the dance floor.

"Oh, well great," I said in a deep but
loud voice, trying to be heard over the
music.

I saw her friend giving her looks so
I was sure now who her friend was.
The waitress half startled me as she
walked up from behind and said,"That'll
be nine fifty hun." I scrambled for my
wallet and paid her and gave her a tip.
I waited till she took her wine before
I started gulping my jack and coke,
boy was I nervous. Sat my drink down
and waited till she had a few sips
before I blurted, "Care to dance?"

Charity

"Oh, well great,"

I nodded wishing I hadn't sounded as if I didn't want to be here.
He must think I was really boring by now.
I watched as he paid and tipped the waitress and picked up my wine with a "thank you" and began to sip it.

I said in a deep but
loud voice, trying to be heard over the
music.
I glanced over and saw he was knocking the drink back pretty quickly. I hoped he wasn't the drunken sort.

"Care to dance?"

I smiled.
At least he didn't want to just sit and drink all night.
I nodded.

"Sure ... I'd like that Bart ... "

I tried to sound casual, but was sure that blush was starting again.
I threw a look at my friend ... an envious look ... she found all "this" so easy!

I put my wine glass down and moved towards him as he led the way to the dance floor.

Christmas party

"Sure ... I'd like that Bart ... "

I put my hand at the small of her back,
and escorted her to the dance floor.
The drinks were starting to loosen me
up already, as I normally didn't drink
at all. But this was a party and well
time to party.

We got to the large floor and there was
quite a few people danceing. I started
swaying and she turned to me as we
reached the wooden oval clearing.

She was beautiful, with her blonde curls
swinging as she swayed. She had a
sensual flow to her as she kept beat
with the music. Things were starting
to look up.

The up beat song came to an end
and a slow song started to play. Many
people were leaveing the floor, but I reached
a hand out and took Charity's as my other
hand wrapped around her waist. And we began
to sway to the music.

"This Ok?" I asked, as she just went along.

"God she smells good," I thought as I was
close enough now that her perfume delighted
me. As did her beautiful body being close to
mine. I pulled her in a litle closer, thinking
"Hope I'm not being to forward?"

"You enjoying yourself Charity?" I asked.

I smiled shyly as we danced.
He danced well. Not too wild, but co-ordinated.
Not putting too much effort into "looking good" like many posers around here ... just enjoying the music.
I smiled at him and brushed a stray lock of hair back behind my ear.

I was almost sorry when the song ended.
The beat slowed and many people began to leave the floor.
Time to head back.
I looked up surprised as I felt his hand on mine.
I felt myself drawn closer, my narrow waist captured by his gentle grasp.
I looked up at him uncertainly, but could hardly pull away.

"This Ok?"

His question put me at ease.
I nodded and relaxed against him.
It felt ... good ... to be close ...
I felt his warmth as we swayed slowly.

"Hope I'm not being to forward?"

I looked up and smiled into his eyes, reassured by his words.
I shook my head and eased a bit closer, my head almost resting against his shoulder enjoying the fact he was taller and much "bulkier" than me.

"You enjoying yourself Charity?"

I raised my eyes and smiled shyly.

"Yes, Bart ... I am now ... "

I confessed honestly.

"This is ... nice ..."

(Not thrilling or coy repartee, but honest ... oh well ... )

Christmas party

"Yes, Bart ... I am now ... " I confessed
honestly. "This is ... nice ..." Charity said.

I know a large smile crept across my face.
She felt so good brushing up against me,
my arm around her as we danced. Her smell
was intoxicating alone, the weaveing back
and forth, and the heart that was pounding
in my chest was all exilerating.

I took a deep breath as I nudged into her
neck just a bit and held her even closer. My
tall frame bent over some to make her more
comfortable. Are dance was smooth as we
glided across the floor with ease together.

"Your a real good dancer, Charity," I said.

It was more of an excuse to touch her ear
with my lips lightly. I knew the dance would
end soon. But I wanted it to last forever,
so that I could continue to hold this lovely lady.

I saw Charity's friend giveing her the eye.
I didn't know there code or eye signals, but I
was hopeing that she was truely enjoying
herself, cause her body felt so good in my
hands and arms, I was in heaven.

I leaned up a little as not to be to overbearing,
and said,"What brings you to the christmas party,
...christmas?" I lightly laughed.

Nikki

"Come on, come dance with me..."
"No, I don't want to."
"Aww, please..."

Nikki gave Justin a pleading look. Not that kind where you take pity on the person and do what they ask, but the kind where you know you'll get something out of it later if you do it now.

"Fine. Ok, ok."

She intertwines her fingers with his, pulling him out onto the dance floor. Warm, chocolate eyes falling on her friend dancing with some man. Hmm... Justin takes her hands, slowly lifting them so that she may drape them around his neck before his own rest on her hips. Nikki did find this too easy, a game she knew how to play very well. Dancing slowly against the guy she had just met, hips slowly grinding into him at every moment she has. Getting a response out of him, but her eyes on her friend. Dropping her a little wink and giving her a cheeky smile, and then a thumbs up. Playful as she always is.

Charity

I smiled up and the nestled closer as the music continued and I relaxed fully.

"Your a real good dancer, Charity,"

He crooned.
He was so reassuring ... such a gentleman ...
I raised my head from his shoulder slightly and caught sight of Nikki dancing just across the floor from us.
I couldn't help smiling as I saw her draped around her latest conquest.
She was all eyes and encouragement.
I tried to get her to stop being so ... obvious ... but Nikki loved this kinda fun ... finally I giggled as Bart turned us and I was able to concentrate fully on him once more.

"What brings you to the christmas party,"
His voice enquired softly.
I leaned upwards speaking into his ear so that he could hear me.

"My friend ... Nikki ... she wanted moral support.
Most of her office are here so she knows alot of the people.
My Christmas "bash" was last week ... "

I glanced across at Nikki who was waving now!
I gestured over to her and pointed her out to Bart.

"She's incorrigible ... "

I laughed.

"A good friend though ..."

I told him a fond smile on my face.

Bart and Charity on the dance floor

(My Christmas "bash" was last week ... "
Charity said.)

'Oh," I replied.

(I glanced across at Nikki who was waving now!
I gestured over to her and pointed her out to
Bart. "She's incorrigible ... " I laughed.
"A good friend though ..." I told him a fond
smile on my face.)

"Cute too," I said as I looked over and
saw Charity's friend all smiles and giggles.
Danceing with her arms around her partners
neck.

Charity was leaned in close as we lightly
stepped across the floor. She had her head
layed in my chest, which made me feel as
though she was comfortable with me.
As the song came to a close, another began.

"Dance some more or you need a sip to wet
your whistle?" I asked. "Or we could step
outside for some fresh air?" What ever she chose,
was fine by me. I was enjoying her company.

Charity

"Cute too,"

I nodded and tried not to feel disappointed.
Nikki was gorgeous and fun ... no wonder all the guys went for her!
Beside her ... I guess I was just ...

"Dance some more or you need a sip to wet
your whistle?
Or we could step
outside for some fresh air?"

The music had stopped and I drew away.

"I think I'll find my drink again ..."

I told him quietly and walked beside him back to the place where are drinks awaited us.
I sipped at the glass again, trying to avoid my eyes from following Nikki on the opposite side of the room.

Christmas party

"I think I'll find my drink again ..." she said.

Charity was beautiful, and alot of the guys
heads were turning as she and I walked
back to our table. I was a little disappointed
that she didnt want to go outside were it was
quieter, away from the crowds and "monkey
chatter," but after all we did still have are
drinks to finish. I didn't want her thinking I
was trying to get her outside for something
besides air. But after all she was very pretty
and perhaps I was trying to keep her for myself.

She was trying not to keep to close a contact
with her friend but I could tell they were keeping
an eye on each other.

I sipped at my jack and coke and tryed to
strike a desent conversation with her.

"So Charity, what do you do when your not
danceing and....." Just then some drunk guy
bumped into me fairly hard and spilt my drink
on the front of my shirt. I was overtook for a
moment and excepted his apology. I took
a couple of napkins and tryed to clean it up.

Now I was feeling a little out of place with a wet
shirt and I checked to make sure that Charity
hadn't been hit with the flying liquid. She hadn't,
I called the waitress over so I could order
another drink. I looked at Charity and smiled,
"You ok?" I asked, half laughing.

Nikki

Giving Charity a pouty face after having been given the "look", she cracks a smile, the song changing to something a little faster and she continues to dance. She turns her back to Justin, rubbing her ass against him provocatively as she does and drops her friend another little wink after looking over in her direction.

Singing along softly with the song, Justin's hands begin to wander down her thighs and inwards which in return gets a small gasp out of her and he begins to whisper into her ear.

Charity

"So Charity, what do you do when your not
danceing and....."

I gasped as some drunk knocked into Bart and made him spill his drink down his shirt.
I watched him trying to mop it up and call the waitress over.

"You ok?"

I nodded.

"Drink wise, fine ..."

I told him smiling as he laughed.

"You really should get that dry you know ... "

I told him not sure what to suggest.
Where there hot air dryers in the gents toilets as well as in the ladies?
I thought it might be ... indelicate ... to ask.

Christmas party

"You really should get that dry you know ... "
Charity said.

"Yeah , your right...excuse me while I go
play with the blow machine in the bathroom."
I said, not knowing rather it would help or not
but I had to try some thing besides napkins.

"You gonna be ok here?" I asked. Knowing
she would with her friends on the dance floor.

Well this would give charity the chance to slip
away if she wanted to, I wasnt exactly making
a good impression, I thought. As I smiled at
her and made my way to the mens room.

And as always there was a line, I tryed to
get by just to use the machine. And got the
ussual "hey no cutting," remarks.

Charity

"Yeah , your right...excuse me while I go
play with the blow machine in the bathroom."

I nodded.

"Sure.."

I picked up my drink and sipped at it again.

"You gonna be ok here?"

Again I nodded and watched him walking away.

That could be the last I'd see of him, I mused and glanced over at Nikki.
She smiled and I rolled my eyes and shrugged.

Christmas parties!
They only were fun when you actually knew anyone there!
I continued to sip slowly at my wine and glanced around the room.
Not a familiar face in sight.
If he didn't return, I decided I'd go home.
I knew Nikki would object but ... she looked pretty ... tied up for the evening ...

Christmas party

"Hello Sweet Charity." I said as I leaned in
from around her, putting my elbow on the
table and chin in my hand. Looking her in
the eyes almost nose to nose. She had these
wonderfull doe like eyes that matched her
beautifull smile.

"Whatcha thinking about so deeply?" I asked.

Just then jake, A co-worker popped up and
I raised my tall frame from the table. "Hey man,
bunch of us are going to the beach for a
bon fire yall want to come?" He asked.

I looked at Charity and smiled, "No, Im
gonna hang around here, Jake this is charity,
Charity, this is Jake." Hellos were exchanged
and he patted me on the back and left.

I was Happy right were I was. I wasnt
so sure that Charity was haveing that great
a time, but I was going to try and make her
evening better.

Another song was starting as I turned to
Charity, with a smile growing across my
face I looked at her and reached my hand out
to hers, "Care to dance again sweet Charity?"

"Hello Sweet Charity."

The voice was so soft that it didn't make me jump as such, although it took me totally by surprise.
He was back.
I'd expected him to be heading for the exit, but here he was.
I smiled as he put his head just in front of mine and held my gaze not letting me pull my eyes away.

"Whatcha thinking about so deeply?"

I blushed and opened my mouth to reply, closing it as we were interrupted.

"Hey man, bunch of us are going to the beach for a
bon fire yall want to come?"

Would he go? Would he ask me to go along?
Would it be a good idea if he did?

"No, Im gonna hang around here, Jake this is charity,
Charity, this is Jake."

I smiled up at the young man who eyed me curiously.
Just like Nikki I thought.
Why did people always jump to conclusions when you'd only just met someone.

"Hello Jason, nice to meet you ..."

I told him and saw the same smiles and suggestive raising of eyebrows that Nikki had been sending me all night!
I couldn't help chuckling as he left.
Friends!!

I met his eyes and smiled into them.
He really was good looking ... and so far had been so kind ... sweet ... really nice ...
I looked down and slipped my hand into his outstretched hand.

"Care to dance again sweet Charity?"

I blushed at his words and replied.

"I'd love to Bart ..."

Again we moved to the dance floor, dancing wordlessly, both of us watching the other as we did.
I realised I was having fun.
Bart was good company.

When the music changed tempo this time, I didn't hesitate before moving closer to him and feeling his arms wrap around me.
We swayed and I pressed my cheek against his shoulder.

"You know ... "

I raised my head to speak into his ear.

"I thought you were going to disappear when you went to dry your shirt ... "

I admitted blushing.

"I'm glad you stayed ... though I didn't want to split you up from your friends .... "

I smiled shyly at him and couldn't resist running a light hand across his chest, as if to test the now dry fabric, but in reality feeling the outline of his torso.

Christmas party

("I thought you were going to disappear
when you went to dry your shirt ... "
She admitted blushing.)

"Heck no, I was afraid you were going to
disappear, while I was gone." I said,
laughing at the fact we thought the
same thing. As we danced, I pulled her
in lightly, she felt so good in my arms.

("I'm glad you stayed ... though I didn't
want to split you up from your friends .... "
She said.)

"Well. they have bon-fires all the time, its
not everyday you meet such a pretty lady."
I answered, her voice was sweet and her
thoughtfullness made her a treasure.

I swayed to the music with her in my arms.
In harmony our bodies graced each other, as
our feet shuffled in time with our steps. Her head
lay upon my shoulder, as she toyed with her
finger on my chest every now and then. This
really pleased me.

My hands around her mid waist, I reached them
around some more and gave her a light squeeze,
hugging her in a jesture of approval. She had made
my night, as her body tightly against mine in our
dance, swaying. Her sweet smell and warmness
stirred me.

"Are you enjoying yourself sweet Charity?" I
asked. She hadn't looked for her friend in
awhile, so I figured she was getting comfortable
with me. I was pleased.

Charity

As we danced, he held me closer.
He was charming ... had said I was pretty ...
I pressed a hot cheek against his chest, let out a soft sigh and relaxed, enjoying the sensation of just being close to him.

"Are you enjoying yourself sweet Charity?"

I nodded against him, smiling at the name he had coined for me.
It was cute.

"Yes ... very much Bart ..."

I told him softly.
The sensation of his hands wrapped around my waist was reassuring rather than scary.

"I didn't expect to meet someone who was sober, charming and a good dancer ..."

I told him, the words slipping past my lips before I could stop them.

Damn!

Nikki knew how to "play the game" as she called it.
How to keep a man dangling ... keep him guessing.
I wasn't any good at that.
If I liked a guy, I told him.
If I didn't like him ... I couldn't pretend to, no matter how great a catch or how good looking he was supposed to be.

I smiled up shyly and suddenly wondered if I'd given him the wrong impression.

Liking a guy didn't mean I was "easy", but so far he'd given no sign that he was out to "make a conquest".

"Are you enjoying yourself Bart?"

I asked my eyes still on his.

("Are you enjoying yourself Bart?"
I asked my eyes still on his.)

"Oh, I most certainly am." I answered.

As I lightly gave her another little squeeze.
The song was coming to an end as I motioned
with my hand, in little circles. For the DJ to keep
the song going, he gave me a puzzled look.
Just then you heard a short screech from the
speakers as the song was playing again from
the beginning, I looked at the DJ and gave him
a thumbs up. Ill have to tip him later I thought.

Charity, First looked at the DJ, as he pointed
at me. She then looked at me, of course I tried
to give the "I don't know what your talking
about,' look. But I can't lie very good, so I
smiled and shrugged. She smiled also and
layed her head back on my shoulder.

I wanted this moment to last forever, but I
knew it wouldnt. The lighting and music were
delightful but this women in my arms was
wonderful. A moment to be embraced as I
embraced her.

"I hope you didn't mind the really long song?"
I asked half snickering, with my mouth buried
in her hair. So that she could hear my lightly
spoken words.

Charity

"Oh, I most certainly am."

Charity smiled at the emphatic answer.
She relaxed into Bart, her eyes closing as she relaxed fully into the sensuous sway of the dance.
She had barely noticed the tempo slowing to the end of the song when a screech of speakers made her jump and raise her head a questioning look towards the DJ.

Why was he looking at Bart and ... at her!?!?
Charity looked towards Bart who shrugged and looked way too innocent.
Then she recognised the song, the same song starting over.
She bit back a giggle realising what he must have done.
A quick look towards the grinning DJ and she settled back to enjoy the rest of the dance.

"I hope you didn't mind the really long song?"

His words caressed my ear as the final notes finally faded.

"No ... but I can dance to more than one tune ... and ... you only have to ask if you want to dance with me ... "

She blushed and looked up at him shyly.
Without speaking, she took his proffered hand and walked from the dance floor back to their drinks.

With sudden realisation she looked around with sudden concern.

"I haven't seen Nikki for a while ... I hope she's ok..."

The faces in the crowd were all unfamiliar.
She looked back towards Bart with an embarrassed smile.

"I know it's silly. She can take care of herself.
She's always such fun but ... sometimes I think she should be more careful ..."

Again the half embarassed laugh.

"But then if you talked to her about me, she'd tell you there are alot of things she thinks I should be ... "

She sipped her drink.

"We're very different ... I guess that's obvious huh?"

She asked, wondering what type Bart went for.
Surely confident and fun-loving was more attractive than ...
well ... she wasn't exactly sure how to define herself ...
