Or anyone planning to wait til the last minute?

Or does anyone have any creative gift ideas?

Post 'em here!

I never wait until the last minute, but I do like to shop on the last day.

I bought one gift that will be a real hit with my 7-year-old nephew. I got him a Wacom Intuos3 Graphic Tablet. I bought one for myself and loved it. He can now draw pictures in a graphics program and save them.........okay, it was a bit pricey, but he's worth it.

My 16-year-old niece has no idea what she would like. She'd rather a gift than money..........

Okay okay fine I'LL START!

I'm actually nearly done w/ my holiday shopping.....which is
a surprise because as it gets closer to Christmas Eve I
end up picking up more gifts......but not this year. Also
picked up my holiday cards as well :)

All I have to really do now is order gift baskets for two
of my friends who are married (they got married last
year....one in summer, one in the fall), and I just figured
instead of getting a joint gift for both and a separate
gift for the friend, I settled on the joint gift. Last year
I sent them gift baskets from Stonewall Kitchen, they
have real great stuff! This year I'm thinking of sending
them something from either Harry & David, Stew Leonard's
(based right in CT!), or somewhere else; I haven't
decided yet.

There are many people out there who love to order
gifts for family and friends thru the internet these days,
and its a great convenience! :)

A graphics tablet.......very cool!

It can be hard to buy for those who have no idea what
they want.........a gift certificate is a good solution to that,
depending on their interests. :)

That's a great idea.

I do give token gifts to a few people at work; usually rum balls. Of course I learned not to pass them out until the end of the day. I usually spend the day after Thanksgiving mixing the dough; enough for about 20 dozen.

That's neat! Rum balls? Sounds like a rum filled
Munchkin! :)

Heehee that reminds me of the times when a former
boss of mine at my work brought in her homemade
fudge, and every time we go into the office at the
group home we take a piece....heehee....the batch would
be gone within 4 days, even less! :D

I usually give cards to my co-workers, but this year if
I have time I am going to put together a little something
for each of them.....am not sure yet though.

There are 60+ people on the staff and we're down from last year. From other posts, I guess you know that many of them aren't on my "nice list".

I thought about bookmarks, since we all read. Handmade ones would be even better.........and I wouldn't have to spend hours rolling rum balls.

There's only 5 staff (including my boss) at the group home
where I work so I don't have to worry..... :)

I don't know about your job and the only posts I've
seen you on is the first and last word thread :)

I'm a middle school teacher. I work with a few (thankfully very few) teachers who can't seem to give the students a chance to redeem themselves. That bothers me because every child deserves that. If the student was an asshole in the 6th or 7th grade these people have nothing good to say about them and condemn those of us who do.

I'm a very strict teacher, but I tell the kids that every day you start with a clean slate........now, if you mess it up the first minute you're in the class, that's on you.

Children need to be given the chance to change, to grow up and mature.

Jenn I'm gonna smack you with all your organization and energy girl!! Jeezz..... I did get one very small thing for a friend the other day but hell, I barely know where Thanksgiving will be never mind what I'm making and you're moving onto Christmas and Hanukkah? I think for Hanukkah I will make you snort everyday! lol

Gee, what a dynamo you are......;)

oh wow! middle school? 6th, 7th, & 8th can be the
hardest for kids at their age because of increased
homework, and responsibilities, and changing social
aspects.....man I remember those years well!

it is true.....giving kids a chance to start off right .......what
you say is quite true :)

I love the idea of bookmarks. Sometimes I'll buy a gift certificate at the bookstore and place a bookmark in the envelope.

I love to receive them as well as I often have more than one book going at a time. (One on the bus, one at home by the bed, and hardbacks that I don't like to pack with me.)

Last year I got lucky as the head honcho in our unit smokes a pipe, so I picked out several aromas and bought a few ounces of each and it was a hit-he loved it. So I'll do the same for him again this year.

*snort* remember that Hanukkah is 8 days, and my
snorting might run out before then! :D heehee!

funny how you mention the pipe and choosing diff.
aromas.......i have a friend who absolutely LOVES
cucumber-melon scent from Bath & Body Works, and
the last two years I got her the lotion & body spray &
bath gel in that scent......she enjoys it! Sometimes its
best to stick to things that you know someone likes. :)

Man, we used to receive the catalog from Swiss Colony
all the time years ago.......they have great stuff in there,
from diff. cheeses to chocolates and other goodies! :)

I try to do mine a little at a time from September on. (I know, Cathleen is going to be ill!) It's purely financial - just easier to break up the spending.

As far as catalogs I love Lillian Vernon. Swiss Colony and Harry & David are great too.

that is good to shop a little at a time......that's actually
what happened to me this time around. It just worked
out well that way :) i know people such as my mom
who shop year round and put stuff away for Christmas
and Hanukkah........whatever works! :)

i started for my kids....and associates..but I have no idea what I want yet...a trip to tiffanys will solve that fast though:D

work associates..........

OKAY!!!!!

Turkey Day is over with, the holiday shopping season is
now fully underway!

Okay......here's a link: www.bubbagump.com

I was at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. in NYC Saturday
for a pre-show lunch......GREAT food and GREAT
service...they even have a cool gift shop.....check out
the website I posted above; there's even seafood
for delivery.....perhaps for those holiday gatherings? :)

Montana Mills Bread has awesome breads.....plus yummy
baked goodies as well. They are based in Rochester NY
.....in fact there was one of their stores right in my town
not too long ago, but they closed :( However, I
give my high recommendation for their breads.....delish!

A great alternative instead of sending candy and sweets.

Also, this grocery store phenom originated right here in
CT......they put out real awesome gift baskets! Check it
