Only 93 days until Christmas. Are you ready? Is your shopping done yet?

No & No.

I'm not the best 'holiday' person. It doesn't have so much to do with the commercialization of it (if people want to 'buy' into all that let them). I guess it's just my views of why am I celebrating the birth of someone I don't believe in.

Sorry if I got this thread off to a 'downer' start.

Cheyenne, dear, sweetie? Are you on crack? I mean seriously I havent even thought about christmas yet!! Of course with my daughters birthday tomorrow ive been to busy buying presents for that!! Yes My little one is turning one scary aint it!! But as soon as this is all over and done with maybe ill think about Christmas!! Of course im still having a Halloween Headache what the hell should a one year old little girl be for Halloween?

Several of the people I exchange gifts with are scattered around the globe (3 continents and both US coasts) so I have to shop this time of year to get stuff and get it shipped. I put on my Roche's CD of We Three Kings and think snow. I have a deadline of 10/15 for all the long distance stuff, then I go and do the regular XMAS stuff in December with everybody else just to enjoy the insanity.

I start shopping in January, and buy a gift each month. So when November gets here I only have to finish the nieces and nephews. Work is so chaotic in December that if I waited I'd never get done! BTW Hunny, Happy Birthday to your daughter!

Are you insane?

We have a long tradition in our family of using the month of December to have a collective nervous breakdown. No matter how much we think we have prepared, the bottom line is that we are all fighting the malls as late as December 24th.

Christmas Day is usually spent in a fugue state, and full recovery occurs around May Day.

I am almost finished. All my neices and nephews are bought for and my Princess is finished. Both my boys have birthdays between now and Christmas so I always wait to buy for them to see what the relatives get them for their birthdays. we have a large family so we only buy for the kids, I have 5 nephews 9 neices plus my three to buy for so I always start early.

Hmmm...

Am I ready for Christmas? Sure, it's a two week break away from the kids that I get to spend with my wife and little buddy (no, not that one, my son who will turn 4 on 12/22). And I have bought the major present for my wife plus some little ones for my son.

As for everyone else that I might buy for, nope not even close to being ready.

I'm also pretty much unsure what Christmas is going to be like in my family this year anyway. My father passed away in July, so things will certainly be different.

I am ready for WHAT?? My god woman, I can't even think about Halloween yet. Then there's Thanksgiving, anniversaries, birthdays, my daughters birthday, my poor nephew was born on Christmas, no, I'm not ready.

I never am. My whole family knows they will be getting gift certificates from me. Last year was really bad, they all got on-line certificates. This year, I will reform. Tangible gift certficates for everyone!

Don't even talk to me about Christmas until after Thanksgiving. It's only September!

Somehow I knew we'd have a variety of styles on this board. I belong to the "buy gifts all year long when I see just the perfect item and store them until Christmas" club. By early December, they are wrapped and ready to go. I still end up buying a few last minute gifts every December, but for the most part, I want a good start on my shopping by the end of September and most of it done by Halloween. I don't enjoy the pressure of last minute shopping. By Thanksgiving, I want any shopping that I am doing to be for fun. That usually also means it is for ME! :D

And yes, I get asked if I'm insane quite a bit. No one has ever asked me if I was on crack before, though. LOL

Cheyenne you should was your mouth out with the lysol soap for bringing up christmas so early.

shame, shame on you. tsk tsk stk.

Cheyenne I'm like you, buy as you go. If that doesn't work everyone but the kids gets money.

I try to do it this way because, if you notice by December the prices on most items have been marked up for "Christmas Rush", I can't be bothered with the crowds and I'm more relaxed and not biting people's heads off, which by the way is not a pretty sight.

So by The beggining of Decmeber I'm pretty much done.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year *Ummm ... now where did I put those Christmas Cards then??? Wondering off*

I have two people I have to buy Christmas presents for; that's two hours in a mall. If I do it now I won't do it later and I want to see the Christmas decorations, singers, Santa and the whole shebang.

By the by Cheyenne, am I not surprised you shop all year round. Is there ever a time you're not level headed and prepared? Do you think it is genetic or did you have to train yourself?
Personally, the only plan I ever made was to start planning someday.

Oh, are you finished Christmas shopping? Are you ever finished?

Never, you are starting to know me way too well. LOL. Must be genetic, I've done this most of my life. I enjoy finding just the right gift for people. I don't like cookie cutter approaches, like gift certificates for everyone. I want my gift to be personalized and mean something to the person I am giving it to. That's the reason for giving it in the first place, isn't it? I admit to having a few fantasic failures in the gift department in my life time. But more often than not, the response is something along the lines of "your gifts are always so unique- how do you think of them? Thank you!" :D

Here's an example. I have a pink depression glass vase that my sister covets. I've been looking for one for her for years and never see another like it. If you think you're hooked on this board, try http://www.ebay.com I started in May of 1999 looking at pink depression glass vases every single day and I finally found the exact vase on ebay a few months ago. I won the auction and the vase is sitting in my closet ready for my sister for Christmas. I am looking forward to seeing her face when she opens the box.

And no, Never, I am never finished with my Christmas shopping. I really do buy gifts all year long. It's a good move for your budget, too. ;)

Budget?...budget.. What's a? Oh, you mean bidet. Not, don't got one o' those.
Ohhhhh, I wanted to ask you a question. I slathered that stuff on my legs and waited and nothing came off, and waited and nothing came off, and waited for twenty minutes. However, none of my hair came off and the little blondish hairs have tuned sort of black and, I don't know, pointing every which way. Not too happy there.
What did I do wrong?

Unfortunately, after seven years of big retail Christmases and holiday shoppers, cookie-cutter gifts are the only thing I can stomach.

Yikes! Are you talking about Magic Lotion? Did you read the directions? Please tell me you are joking with your description of what you did. I'll assume you aren't kidding though. You are only supposed to let it on your skin for 6 to 9 minutes, not 20! Don't even think about leaving it on more delicate areas for 20 minutes. And it won't come off all on its own. That is what the spatula is for. You use the spatula to wipe away the lotion and the hair. If you just rinse, or wipe it off with your hand or a wash cloth, it won't work. You have to use the spatula to remove the hair. I use a little one that I bought just for this purpose.

Now, back to Christmas. I can't have every thread I start end up being a discussion of Magic Lotion, can I?

Well, I tried to take it off after 9 but it didn't come off .. Yes, I used my mother's spatula. I swear, I was scrubbing so hard with the thing I lost a layer of skin.. but no hair.

Of course, I followed the directions. I'm really sort of disappointed here. I got myself kind of excited about the 'Magic' and it fizzled. What next, no Santa Claus?

Why?
Because you're the expert.

Why not?

I think a smooth pussy would make a great Christmas gift! :D

BTW, I know all about eBay being addictive. Many thousands of dollars of mine have been spent on tool auctions, I only stopped when I ran out of money. I still browse just to keep on top of things.
