Famed Navy SEAL Chris Kyle shot, killed in N. Texas

GLEN ROSE, Texas -- A former U.S. Navy SEAL who gained recognition during the Iraq War was one of two people fatally shot southwest of Fort Worth on Saturday, KHOU 11 News has learned.

Sources close to the investigation tell KHOU that one of the victims was Chris Kyle, a former Navy SEAL and author of the New York Times bestselling book, "American Sniper."

Kyle was shot point-blank while helping another soldier who is recovering from post traumatic stress syndrome.

A warning was issued for the suspect, who was believed to be driving a black Ford F-350 truck with large tires and rims.

Police have reportedly captured the suspect in Lancaster, south of Dallas. The suspect was believed to be highly trained with military experience

The shooting location is 53 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

"American Sniper" was published last year, and details Kyle's 150-plus kills of insurgents from 1999 to 2009. The book's cover refers to Kyle as "the most lethal sniper in U.S. military history."

We need a border fence to protect the rest of America from Texans.

Does this mean the guy he was helping now has Present Traumatic Stress Syndrome.

the f-350 w/ nice rims says there's at least a 90% chance that it was a redneck douchebag with too much money and no fucking sense.

Are we to infer that the alleged shooter was also the person with PTSD that Kyle was "helping?" By taking him to a fucking gun range?

That might have backfired just a little bit, no pun intended.

So?
I work with a New Jersey Transplant. ( A damned Yankee!)

Seriously? You know perfectly well that there are stories all the time about Texans (born and bred, not imported) who get pissed off and try to solve their issues with their gun. Trying to derail this with the "no true Scotsman" argument is just pig-headed and stupid. You're smarter than that. Show it.

Geeze..There's already conspiracy theories going around ahout Obama being involved in this. Looney tunes. They need some someone to blame for all the gun deaths. Which is highly ironic.

Have you ever noticed, the smaller the mind, the bigger the truck?

I agree, but, nevertheless, this is too good not to use:

[shrug] Dude was a soldier, obviously he had spent a lot of time on gun ranges, maybe Kyle figured he would feel at home there; or, it was a good place to teach him, "See! Lots of loud gunfire-noises here and you're not in danger!" Might have worked until that asshole showed up and spoiled it.

I'm on my droid so I can't. Read the article on the Dallas Morning News which came out about 30 min ago. Then the nutty comments. I'm sure there will be actual blog posts up soon about Obama's part in this.
