Children of the Fae -- also known as Faeborn -- are descendants of ancient god-like beings that died out thousands of years ago from a mysterious plague. Their only hope for maintaining their bloodlines was to breed with humans, creating a hybrid species that had a drastically reduced connection to the Manastream, but was immune to the plague. These bloodlines thinned out over many centuries of dilution, however, to the point that in the modern world, Faeborn have virtually no power, and those who do are rare.

The small Faeborn communities around the world work hard to keep their existence a secret, and usually only those born to the stronger families ever develop any power or learn of their heritage. However, the High Council recently learned of a nefarious plot hatched by fellow Councilor Baun Vanderaust -- Over two decades ago, he secretly traveled the world, seducing and impregnating as many women as he could. He made multiple trips over a several year period, and now his offspring are all in their late teens or early twenties.

Most of their lives, they had no idea they were Faeborn or who their real father was. But now, the wicked Vanderaust has set his plan in motion -- he had previously sealed the powers of each of his offspring at the time of conception, letting their potential stew and gather energy -- and now he has released their seals, unleashing them on an unsuspecting world. His ultimate goal is to use his children to make his own army and conquer the globe.

For the time being, the Council has managed to imprison Vanderaust, but they frantically attempt to gather the new Faeborn and teach them to control their powers before they destroy entire cities. Some of them are eager to learn and do not want to hurt anyone, while others have been corrupted by their newfound strength. Some are scared and just want to be left alone. Who are you?

This can go a number of directions, just let me know what everyone thinks :).

You have such good ideas lol. I think I would be awesome to play as a crazy serial killer guy with superpowers. Let me know what the plan is.

fae who doesn't want to hurt anyone but explore her powers but another sibling starts to tempt her over to the dark side. I want to try that.

Awesome. Now I guess we just wait for jeffinator to set it up. I guess we could flesh out character's stories out while we wait though. Since they're going to be siblings we should probably be on the same page about back stories.

yeah but remember, these threads are going to have even more then just us and Jeff, these are more open this one even more then the other one, with more people.

Sweet. This RP is another idea I'm throwing out to see what sticks. Hopefully we can garner more interest.

I hope so. It seems like so far he hasn't had much luck recruiting. I guess we should just wait and see who we end up with before we start on back stories.

my point exactly. I like real fantasy is why I'm interested. People just don't get this, MEDIEVAL IS NOT FANTASY!!!!! Phew, finally got it off my chest.

I agree but like 75% of fantasy stuff is medieval so most people don't realize there can be more to it. Not that I don't enjoy a nice knight and dragon story, but sometimes it's nice to break away from the norm.

Like I just said medieval IS NOOOOOT I will repeat NOOOOOOOOT fantasy. It is fiction but do NOOOOOOTTTTTTTTT call it fantasy. There were medieval times, though there weren't dragons. There were knights and castles and kings. Which makes it NOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTT fantasy. So please do not put the words Medieval and fantasy together around me unless the word NOT is between them. Thank you.

I have to agree with Othermoose in the sense that most fantasy is called "medieval fantasy" because the level of civilization is usually that of the Late Middle Ages. It can also be called "historical fantasy" if it's a fictionalized version of the real world or real people.

And usually within "medieval fantasy," there is "high fantasy" and "low fantasy," usually defined by how close to our real world it is or how farfetched.
