Can you have a child in a story if they are in no way connected with any of the sexual situations?

I'm trying to write an erotic story with more of a plot and it starts with a flashback from childhood. As I was writing it I realized I don't think I have ever seen a story on here that had a child in it.

I repeat the flashback is purely a happy memory, no sex whatsoever.

You can write a story with two pre school teachers getting together for sex in the middle of the day if you really want to, the kids just can't see hear or know of the sex. ;)

The answer is yes, maybe. There are several stories that have "the kids", usually infants through early teens, but they never see, hear, or participate in the action. In other words, real babes in the woods. But - if you are going to use a childhood flashback to set up an adult situation, you are treading on shaky ground.

My advice: Write it the way you want. If it gets rejected you are only out all the hours you spent of the story, but can probably still salvage it with a minimum of rework.

One question: Why is a childhood memory so important to the story? I have seen several written that have flashbacks to an innocent 18 year old now setting up a situation.

It's a comedic romance and the couple meets as children. Most of my stories are simple quick stroke things but I've decided to write some with plots that could interest readers.

Based on that, I would think you are okay. Absolutely no touching, gropping or masturbation though. I would think a lite kiss may pass.
