(This dame may be young, but I can appreciate the classics, especially with some of the junk that's on todays TV and big screen... these movies seem entertaining, I'm going to go see if they are available at my nearest video store)

I did some research last night and here's da damn quiz:

~What does a hypnotist turn one of the Boys into and in which movie?

~In 1948, what was Huntz Hall arrested for IRL?

~What kind of surgery did Sach have and what kind of ironic twist did it take to the movie?

~When the Boys go to help a young girl out, what are they accused of?

~For whom do the Boys pretend to be siblings and why? and who/ what does Huntz Hall pretend to be?

Nope, that's Huntz Hall....

One of the original Bowery Boys. Think he may still be alive.

Hey Lickerish - what's an "ish?"

Shit.....

Didn't want to anwser these.....

Leo Gorcey, (Muggzee, or Butch or whatever - his name changed a bit, his real life dad) ran the candy store.

Don't know the rest.

Sparky dear

Are you referring to my name? The 'ish' in Lickerish? I had to think of a name and I thought 'Lickerish' sounded naughtier than 'Licorice' and the fact that I love using my tongue seemed to fit.. Voila! Lickerish is was. I just wish I had capitalized it when I registered.

And actually, Huntz Hall died last year of a heart attack, RIP.

luv,

Licky

Wow. You got me on the trivia, lickerish! Thanks!

I just watched the movies as a kid, and never followed them in real life. Though I knew Huntz Hall died a while bakc, and that Leo's dad (or uncle) played the owner of the sweet shop (was it "Pop"?)

And it's "Oh Chiefy". LOL

Rent the two movies they did as young kids, especially the social drama "Dead End" with Bogart. Great, great flick. No "Oh Chiefys" there -- the slapsticky stuff came later when they started doing the cheapie flicks (which I still think were pretty funny).

I didn't see "Dead End" until I was an adult, and was astonished to see the Bowery Boys looking so young, and all playing such different characters. Apparently they were quite the hell-raisers, too, and terrorized the lot.

You know what? I'm not sure you CAN get the Bowery Boys features on video. I've neve seen them. I can't believe they're not marketable, which means they're probably held up because of legal issues. Still, you can get both "Dead End" and "Angels With Dirty Faces" (also very, very good), both of which were major studio releases.

Man, Sundays were great "back then". You had "Popeye", "The Three Stooges", "Creature Feature" and "The Bowery Boys".

Okay boys, let's conflagrate the loot and get outta' here! Routine 12!

Hi lickerish!

Huntz Hall was busted for smokin da big MaryJane!;)

And if you are interested, they are on videotape and amazon carries a few of their titles. (Certainly not all 40+ Bowery Boys or the 30+ more Dead End Kids, East Side Kids etc)

Also, Turner Classic Movies has run weekend-long festivals of their films during the summer the last couple of years.

DCL- my weekends were made complete by the Tarzan and the Hercules movies too. Does anyone remember those?
