Chicago voted "NO WAR"

I haven't heard anything about Chicago but I see you have protests going on in Germany.

All over the world for the past six months or more.
Nice to see the world is rallying against the war and standing together for a change.

If we do it long enough and enough people actually address why wars happen instead of how much to build up the military maybe we'll get somewhere.

And maybe if we WISH hard enough psychotic dictators will step down and stop torturing civilians too.

The Chicago City Council voted against the war.

My question is why does anyone care? Its a nice little publicity grabber for them but C'Mon, big deal.

Much akin to Berkely, CA declaring themselves a "nuke-free" zone.

They would have more impact by organizing a mass demonstration.

I was wondering the same thing. It's not like W's going to call up every politician in the country and ask for their opinions.

I wonder what the Beverly Hills East Side School Board has to say on the issue.

It will take more than wishing. And war won't do it either.

Personally the best tactic I've seen so far is the Saudi's offering amnesty to Hussein's generals. Let people take care of their own as much as they can on one hand.

And look at the nature of conflicts and why they happen in the first place. From a global perspective.

A new way of thinking won't happen overnight but I do believe we can keep working towards it.

You need to read more.

They didn't vote no to war.

They voted no to "all that jazz happening up in Iraq"

The more little deals that happen the more a voice for peace is formed.

Sometimes the best things happen in little steps.

Which, in turn, has about as much impact as a wet fart.

Thank you!

I was trying to remembe the third. The other two are Ann Arbor, MI and Takoma Park, MD.

The Saudi's know well that Bush and Cheney will be starting good old 'Merican Oil Companies in IRAQ. Hell, Cheney got enough cash from Halliburton to start his own little Exxon.

It's in the Saudi's best interest to make sure the Americans dont get what they truly want, occupation and control of Iraq's Oilfields. They have had us over a barrel (ha) since we made the Faustian deal with them in the 70's. Hey, no surprise that the richboyintellectuals from that country are leaders of some radical Islamic, anti-western movements. Enough time and money to sit back and patiently plan, and watch, and listen...get a little on the job training fighting the Soviets with the Mujahadeen...

To suggest that the war is fought over political angst and moral indignation is akin to arguing that the American Civil War was fought because of slavery in the south.

It just aint so, Scarlet...And it aint got nuthin to do with birthin no babies...unfortunately!

Hi Rex. Hope you have a good weekend!;)

There is a peace march scheduled here today. Just like the protests against the Viet Nam war. I feel like it is the 60's again.
