Day trip.sweetsubsarahh said:Oh, I love Chicago! And I have a list of spots I'd love to see again. But the majority of folks really want to hang out together and talk, drink, laugh - at least the first night.
But those are terrific ideas for Saturday -

Terrific idea. The commuter lines are comfortable, efficient and reasonable, and give a great view of the loop as you approach. Hiking from the station west of the river to Michigan Ave. is a wonderful journey through the heart of the loop.sweetsubsarahh said:Via train.
I'm relishing the idea of a bunch of half-looped Litsters piling onto a train.

There are lots of things to do in that giant place - but an $8.00 ticket will get us into just the aquarium part.
It's certainly a possibility.

Wimp - that's part of the fun!

The Shedd Aquarium is a touch pricey for a group (I believe it's in the $20-$30 range per person), but I believe Dr. M said he had a membership there and offered to get a few people in for free. The Planatarium is about a block away and is very inexpensive (so it would make a fun way to kill part of the afternoon). I don't think you'll find much to do in that immediate area, but they have trolley tours downtown that look very cool (and touristyimpressive said:Well, if we don't go as a group, I gotta go solo -- 'cause I promised my kids souveniers from there.![]()
If you can semi-reasonably claim student (or teacher) status (sewing class at Jo-Ann Fabrics, for example) there are worthwhile discounts at all the museums. A student card is good, but odds are if you just cop a plea you get the discount - they are politie Midwesterners in Chicago, after all.S-Des said:The Shedd Aquarium is a touch pricey for a group (I believe it's in the $20-$30 range per person), but I believe Dr. M said he had a membership there and offered to get a few people in for free.
