At almost $50,000 a pop (with government subsidies), maybe I should buy two of them?

As best I can discover, the 900 pound lithium ion battery that powers the Volt, is only made in China…job creation for Communists, wunnerful!

Recall that GM received a gazillion dollars in bailout funds, to pay the $600.00 per day wages of Union workers.

Who wants to bet against me when I predict that the majority of sales of GM’s Lemon, will be mandatory purchases by the US & State governments for employees to pedal about?

Of course, Al Gore will have one permanently parked in front of his zillion dollar, heavy carbon imprint mansion. Mayhaps Democrat John Kerry can park his $7,000,000 yacht there also without fees or taxes?

Ah, ya gotta love those greenies!

The Dolt...er...Volt was part of the deal when GM sold it's birthright to Obeyme for a mess of taxpayers money. Short version: It's a turkey.

The primary power source is the battery which has a range of about 40 miles and takes 8 hours to recharge up to 85% capacity; the secondary source of power is a poopy 4 cylinder IC engine that burns premium fuel which will take you maybe 200 miles or so.

There are several IC engined cars that get better mileage than the Volt on regular fuel and have room for more riders. It's a gesture to the bird and bunny nuts to keep their votes, keep the union auto workers busy and is about as practical as a papier-mache' corkscrew. ;)

More to the point, where's the electricity gonna come from to recharge the battery? We can't burn coal, oil or nuke fuel to generate it...they either pollute or are scary. Wind farms, solar panels, what?

I know, let's borrow electricity from China like we do our money. :D

You got the picture just right Tom...you may have noted the 'usual suspects', that long ago I described as a 'circle jerk', are now attempting to brand those few of us who share the same thoughts, in the same way.

I am formulating an idea for a Thread, "Right versus....Wrong", an attempt to clarify that the 'left' is not just gauche, but morally and ethically 'wrong', in a world of right and wrong, good and bad.

I always offer full verbal support for market oriented innovations concerning transportation and other aspects of our economy based on fossil fuels. What I do not support is the huge waste of money in both research and development, of environmentally driven changes that disregard the necessity of being cost effective.

Government is never accountable for the money they spend or invest; in the real world, one either produces with a profit or one goes under.

Regards!

Sticks and stones, ami, sticks and stones. :D Being challenged isn't in their playbook.

Government is never accountable for the money they spend or invest; in the real world, one either produces with a profit or one goes under.

Which is what should have happened to Government Motors and Chrysler...but then Obeyme couldn't have crowed about 'saving' all those Union jobs and future campaign donations to his re-election (shudder) war chest.

The government will continue to subsidize crap cars like the Dolt as long as it's politically expedient to do so. If the campaign cash from the Sierra Club and the other Enviro-Nazis ever dried up, the Dems green agenda would disappear like spit on a hot skillet. ;)

I have a twinkling of an idea that I may as well share at this time...

"The Party of No", is the pejorative attached to the Republicans in Congress; to which I have heard no appreciable response.

Free market advocates understand that it is not the function of government to come up with ideas concerning the management of society, business and industry; that is a function of the market place.

All of these government programs, from the left and the right, in Keynesian manneresques, attempt to manage and control industry for some vacuous 'greater good' for society and end up hurting everyone except the bureaucrats.

The Party of No, means no interence, no regulations, no controls, no excessive taxation of industry. The 'Yes' part of that Party is, yes to a strong military and yes to laws that protect the lives, liberties and properties of the people in general.

We don't elect people to represent us who use the office to control and regulate us; we elect them to protect, by law, our life, liberty and property, as stated.

:)

Good points, all.

Let us not forget there are entirely too many people in this country who 'feel' rather than think, 'believe' rather than know and are perfectly willing to follow the leader if their personal needs are satisfied.

They have also been conditioned to think the government is the great equalizer and the font from which all blessings flow. They will defend it in the face of logical arguments regardless of it's legions of failings and blunders as it's in their interest to do so.

Before there were kings, there were pawns. ;)
