Was really channeling his inner Hillary Clinton last night.
I was really waiting for him to blame Putin for his recall.

When you coddle the criminals and treat their victims as acceptable collateral damage
in your quest for Social Justice and addressing the plight (economic and oppressive)
of the criminal then even your fellow Progressives get nervous and think,

"I might be Next!"

He's blaming the money in politics.

Ironic since it was a billionaire's money that got him elected in the first place...

The irony is that the Left is constantly decrying the use of dark money yet they're the biggest recipients.

Historically, dark money has benefitted the right more often. It's only been 2018 and 2020 where that trend shifted. We'll see what this year shows.

After years of dark money overwhelmingly boosting Republicans, this marks the first presidential election cycle where dark money benefited Democrats. That’s a continuation from the 2018 midterm elections when Democrats benefited from more dark money than their Republican counterparts at the federal level for the first time since Citizens United.

I don't give a giant rat fuck who "historically" has benefited more by dark money. All I said was the Left is against it but snaps it up whenever it's offered and begs for more.

But you go ahead and try to deflect and change the narrative.

I was responding directly to your statement. They have not benefitted the most. It's fairly even.

If what you say is true (it isn't), the scale is balanced. So how is that "unfair" to the Left?

I provided the source. Maybe take a look.(hint: it supports what I said)

Dark money is typically a way to skirt campaign limitations on donations. That is unfair to anyone who it's used against. I would say that scale tips differently depending on the election cycle and race in question..but I also am against the citizens united ruling and have lobbied for dark money to be banned from campaigns.

Big difference between local elections and federal elections. San Francisco elections have been bought and paid for by left leaning union labor PACs for generations. In recent years, it’s been augmented by outside money from social justice PACs and ”YIMBY” PACs that focus on expanding publicly financed housing, rent control, COPA, residential densification, etc. There hasn’t been any significant right wing money in SF politics in my lifetime.

You make a good point, though recently dark money from right wing groups has started showing up in the region. https://capitalandmain.com/conservative-money-pours-into-heated-san-francisco-school-board-recall

I don't think any DA is going to survive the increase in crime we've seen across the US....I expect we'll see a blood bath for most incumbents.

Gotta be careful about characterizing all the groups backing the SF school board recall effort as conservative or right wing. The tech tycoons and political operatives backing the SF effort are only conservative in their immediate backyards where their own kids are impacted. One example from the article:

“In San Francisco, Todd David, who served as campaign director for Democratic state Sen. Scott Wiener’s 2016 race, runs a pro-recall PAC, Concerned Parents Supporting the Recall of Collins, López and Moliga, which has raised more than $1 million. (Wiener, like the mayor and most other political leaders in the city, supports the recall.)”

CA State Senator Scott Weiner is one of the most progressive people in the entire CA state legislature.

I mainly posted it for reference....dark money makes it easy for external sources to pour money into campaigns where it wasn't possible prior to CU.

Dark money is a problem and whether this impacted the recall as much as the DA said it did or not, attention to races like this is increasing, not decreasing
