Since you always have answers let me ask this of you. How does the "ignore" list work? Does that just mean anyone on it can;t send PM"s to me? or is it even that they cannot reply to my posts? There is no one I want to do it to as of yet but just curious how it works.

If you're inclined to remove someone from your ignore list, there is a link in the "this person is on you ignore list" placeholder to remove them from the ignore list or you can do it from you UserCP.

You can ignore somenone for however long you wish although there's no way to pre-set a un-ignore time.

Putting someone on ignore also blocks display of any thread they've started in the forum index although you can still go to a blocked thread if someone provides a link.

Thanks Harold I tried it and ignored James, saw how it worked, but seeing as I feel bad for him I took him back off. Why ignore someone when you can just exchange dumb ass remarks when you're in that type of mood? Seeing I'm from the east coast where we're all over caffeinated, rude, and treat sarcasm as an art form why would I want to pass up on these oppurtunities?

Because if you encourage trolls to fling poo, you're not the only one who gets spattered? Every time a troll gets a reaction out of you, vRose or anyone else, they get to see their name at the top of the forum index (in a thread like this) and are "rewarded" for bad behavior.

I have had as many as 999 people on my ignore list -- mostly because of people who say, "I can poke sticks at the trolls if I want to. It's fun" encouraging trolls and keeping their inane and/or rude threads on the front page and providing them with more than enough reason to keep trolling and burying the interesting threads in garbage.

Currently, because of the number of people I have on Ignore, I'm only showing 30 threads on the General Board -- with the maximum 40 threads per page set -- which means there are ten threads started by people I have no desire to interact with. There are times -- especially during spammer attacks -- when I have as few as five to ten threads on the general board.

See personally I think you need some poo slinging from time to time. Within reason of course. There is nothing wrong with some debate or even good natured squabbling. Things would be pretty dull if everyone agreed on everything and was sickeningly happy all the time.

Political correctness has done this. It started out as a decent concept but has now 360'd we care to much about every thing and it has become ridiculous. I don't feel I challenged anyone. I don't start anything it's just a matter of if someone jumps in and slings some dumb shit I won't hide from it. Honestly I'm a nobody on this site. I don't stick my nose into the GB, well no longer because I did once accidentally and about an incest question no less which really set me up. i was admittedly foolish and wasted half of a day trading barbs and insults and defending my position. I have been on the threads for a few weeks now and know where not to go. I have had no ill experiences here at AH except for a couple of digs with JBJ. I honestly love a good debate providing it's kept to a mature level. I don't think people will push if not given a reason.
If i wanted to challenge I could just go to GB and say
"I write incest stories, support gay marriage and think you all suck"

I'm sure your father was one of very many teenagers who enlisted and and won WWII. These days a 13 y/o would be in conflict management classes and taking a daily dose of Ritalin. And alhough you might be amazed, none of the rest of us are--we have known what jimmy thinks of the forum since he began posting here in 2007. And we know why he keeps posting here as well. For those who want better control over the forum, there's a firefox plugin my sig that is better than the ignore that the forum has. It lets you ignore or highlight everything a poster does, or you can choose to ignore their avatar, you can ignore specific threads-- or highlight them if you want to keep special track-- and manage stuff that lit doesn't use but other vbulliten forums might.
