cheating with consequences

told from the wife's pov, somewhere in the tale the cheating wife laments something like:

"i knew i had made a mistake letting that slip, because once his mind starts working on a problem, it never stops until he solves it, like a machine."

something like that, maybe used brain instead of mind. can't seem to find it using search function.
