I went into Chat for the first time in, like, two years, and it was full of 60 people in a room all saying the exact same things. "Hi. Hi there. Nice profile. U sure R sexy. Hi all! Bye! Gotta run! Okay, bye FreakyMan417! Where R U all from! Gotta run! K! Bye!" I've always felt that my own personal Hell would be full of people engaging in nothing but banal small talk. Sheesh.

But seriously I don't use Chat Rooms for the reason you mention and because most participants appear to be in the 16 to 18 range where the mere mention of a cock or a cunt would have them all running away screaming in terror...

And the House Rule thing comes up every 60 seconds to tell you that if you say "Booger" you're going to be "Booted!" Why, back in MY day we policed ourselves, and it worked just fine. The jerks were ridiculed and it made for an interesting afternoon. Damn kids and their newfangled House Rules. Grrr.

It turns out he was actually the CEO of AOL/Time-Warner and he's currently explaining the 49million dollar hole in their accounts.

From my short time reading posts here it seems like quite a few of you have formed overlapping cliques here and there. You all should create your own lit room on irc somewhere and chat and moderate it yourselves.

It's interesting to see a group of folks who selected themselves as BB'ers discussing the merits of chat. Of COURSE you all hate it. That's why you're here, right? But I'll tell you, there are lots of fun times to be had in chat and though I'm no longer a part of that scene the wild dizziness of it was a challenge you can't come close to in a forum like this.

And anybody who thinks that it's all Hey There and wassup? and all that crap just didn't fall into the flow of the conversations.

I do agree with DCL, though. The early days with no CMs or house rules were much more fun. The crowds were smaller and we had no trouble at all dealing with the rude ones. It usually took just a few minutes to drive them out and we had fun doing it. The CMs ruined it. Egos exploded. It all started deteriorating from there.

BUT, for those of you who said that a chat room full of BB'ers is great fun, why do you think that's any different than a like grouping of Chatters with a similar shared history, and a knowledge of each other at least as intimate as those shared here? For me, chat was great fun while it lasted. I'm a MUCH more serious girl in here.
