The art of the interview has always fascinated me, and I think Rose is one of its most amazing practitioners. His preparation for each guest is absolutely exhaustive, and his questions are insightful without being deliberately confrontational. He listens to his guest. I mean listens, and responds accordingly. There are a few other great interviewers out there (Moyers springs to mind immediately), but Charlie Rose could interview a lampshade and I'd watch, riveted.

Any other Rose fans out there?

I enjoy Rose as he always has good guests. I watched him interview James Garner the other evening, Quite interesting. :)

He does indeed get fine guests, but sometimes I feel the guests are almost irrelevant to the entertainment I derive from Rose. He can interview someone I have absolutely no interest in, and I find myself unable to change the channel.

He's a great interviewer. I like people who pause and think before they speak. It gives the impression that they're actually considering their words, which gives them an air of wisdom. Donald Rumsfield does this, and he comes across very well because of this. As well as a wacky war hawk can come across, anyhow.

I'm another CR fan. What I appreciate the most is the time he gives writers. Hope he's back in the saddle before long. RF

Last night he interviewed David McCullough, the author of the new biography of John Adams, and it was fascinating. McCullough has been making the rounds, and he's always an interesting interview, but nobody handled him like Rose. You could easily tell just by watching that DM really, truly enjoyed being interviewed by someone who actually did his homework, listened to him, and asked intelligent questions. I've noticed that almost all of Rose's guests have similar reactions.

Sans tv for months now but Rose was always a highlight. As someone mentioned, his exploration of abook with it's author was nearly always splendid.

I hate Charlie Rose program!!!

This is like comparing Dan Quayle to Thomas Jefferson!

Rose is smug, he talks too much, and asks the wrong questions.

He gets some good guests but the only thing I like about Charlie
Rose is that he makes me turn off the TV and do something more
meaningful even if it means going to sleep.

It's fascinating to see how many people think he's great. Am I
the only one that finds him dull and fatuous?

Check out Brian Lamb on CSPAN, now there's an interviewer.
Oh well, there's just no accounting for taste.

Or, his questions get longer than the guests' answers, and you can see them sitting there looking dazed, trying to follow him.

LOL. That is definitely true. Those rambling questions add to my entertainment. He listens to his guests, and he expects them to listen to put in at least as much effort listening to him.

I can definitely see how Rose might not be to everyone's taste. I just find his show fascinating.
