I need some advice on my latest story.

I am writing a story for the Gay Male category. It is set in the time of the Roman Empire roughly 2nd or 3rd century - preChristianity becoming the state religion.

A young man is seduced by an older man. I do not make any clear statements about the younger man's age apart from making it clear that he has the right to wear a Toga - the elite class's coming of age in the Roman Empire.

Do I run into problems if occassionaly the older man calls the younger man "boy" in the dialogue?

Providing you have some sort of clear signals that the "boy" is old enough to be considered a "man." That means that ignoramouses like me need a little more input than "toga."

Secondary sex characteristics are the way to go. Bushy pubes, shaving, deeper voice, broad shoulders, that sort of thing.
