Character Addiction

Yes, I'm finishing up We're a Wonderful Wife, a story I've been working on for almost 2 years. I love every one of my characters and instead of editing the final chapter so I can click on "Publish" I'm dawdling here in the forum so I don't have to say goodbye.
You’re title (we’re a wonderful wife) reminds me of something I always say.

In my life I’m always getting pictures from friends saying “hey, this person looks like you”, and this has led me to create the standard answer…there’s a lot of me about.

Has anyone else experienced a kind of character addiction like this?

Not really. I think there's an aspect of 'closure' when I've written an ending, especially the ending of a series. It allows me to move on, and concentrate on something new. I miss them a bit, yes, but that fades in time and I can just look back fondly at what we once had. I have one series I haven't finished yet and that character seems to call to me, demanding attention. Which is ok, she's worth it.

Oh Simon! That's such a sad thing to say or admit to. I wish I was there to give you the hug you deserve... assuming hugs would be okay?
Did... did my reply deserve a hug too? Maybe?

You see @stickygirl! This is what happens when you show your legs and offer free hugs, everyone tries to play the sympathy card to get a hug…you all ought to be ashamed…but more importantly where’s the free-hug queue?

🤣😆😂

Yes, I've noticed a lot of Emilys around here

I've centered my erotic universe all in the same geographical area. The east coast of Florida, centering on the Melbourne and Cocoa Beach areas. This allows my stories to begin to cross over one another. Story 1 and Story 2 are separate stories but Story 3 will have a character from each perhaps. Add a new character each time and soon the possibilities are endless. How does this apply to the OP's question? It doesn't.

But, it's going to allow me to fit my favorite characters into more stories without having one series called The Continuing Adventures of Slutty Stacy. My gal Stacy will be everywhere I want her to be. And she's yummy.

I was just down there! Did you include me?

I'm not that kind of girl! Do you take me for a hug-slut?!

That calls for a sequel, but maybe you shouldn't write a sequel without a story.

I fall in love with my female characters, but it goes away when I start thinking about the next story. If that feeling is too strong, then maybe you didn't end the story well. The readers seem always willing to tell us when they think the story isn't complete. Maybe this "character addiction" is your writer's sense telling you that the story isn't complete.

You might need more story, or maybe you needed to work more on how the story ended.
Interesting. I will give that some thought.
