chaos or entropy?

do you prefer order and a pre-defined life?

or do you wanna just ride the wave of fate and let go, never knowing what happens next?

I'm content to just go with the flow.
Even the best laid plans can go awry, after all.

going with the flow works better for the best laid plans go wrong sometimes.

Chaos or Entropy?

i'll take both and dual-wield the bastards! (note: Chaos and Entropy are two short swords from the game Baldur's Gate II)

as for how to live? i'll take both there, as well! some things you may want to control as much as possible, for others it might be wise to let things fall where they may...

I much prefer order but since I know that will never happen I've learned to go with the flow.

Well...maybe not learned but I'm getting better at it.

i don't watch the SHOW, i watch HER... and i will strike soon, too... very soon...

Chaos witout a doubt. By the way, welcome to the board. Good first post

Pornography, not thermodynamics, rules the day.

Chaos and entropy? Good one.

Chaos is defined, rather simplified, as the recurrent yet unpredictable behavior exhibited by deterministic (casual, not random) natural systems, such as the atmosphere interacting with earth, oceans, and solar radiation.

Entropy is defined, also simply, as the degree of disorder in a physical system, the extent to which the energy in a system is available for doing work, the distribution of the energy of a system between different modes, or the uncertainty in a given item of knowledge.

From what I can tell, they aren't mutually exclusive. One can argue that by the non-scientific definition of chaos, that chaos and entropy can be construed as one and the same. The accepted lay definition is one of disorder. Entropy does not have a non-scientific definition, therefore must remain defined as is.

Rationlist or empiricist?
Plato or Hobbes?
Bacon or Descartes?

The answers, like the question of entropy or chaos, can be none of the above.

But to answer your question, I prefer my life to have a good soundtrack.

funny you should ask................I was just this evening trying to explain to my husband why I feel "uneasy" and on edge........your question was at the very core of my reasoning. I very much want a defined life with all my can goods lined up and in order.......but my household is in constant motion and I feel as if I am losing my grip at times....

Thought I'd share.

scylis:
Actually that's Chaos Blade and Entropy.. and you can't duel-wield Bastards.
(Ha-ha, I made a funny)

This question is rather moot as you don't get to choose.. but I'd pick harmony, the joining of yin (entropy) and yang (energy)..

Chaos and entropy are not mutually exclusive as any purely chaotic system would eventually atrophy.

Sorry for not being more verbose.

good thread, good points,

I prefer order, but if something comes up, as if it were put out before on purpose, or by fate, I will abandone all plans to follow that dream, but is a highly ordered manner...
