Chaos of Arcadia
Mankind has finally colonized space, establishing several colonies on orbiting planets in the surrounding solar systems. Yet with so much more territory to explore, the Universal Alliance (headed and controlled by the central government on Earth) has decided to create a space program designed to explore and potentially establish new points of contact. Using the latest technologies, including mobile suits that are piloted by the best trained fighter pilots alive, the IGSP has begun moving into the most remote regions in the universe.

Rachel is a fairly open-minded individual, and she often acts with kindness towards others. Her sometimes childish and playful demeanor is seen by others as a general naivety of the real dangers in the universe. When pushed to her limits, however, Rachel will act with determination and resourcefulness.
Biography:
Rachel Benton was born in the year 213 on Earth (as reckoned by the Universal Alliance) to her mother Amanda and father Mark. "Formal" education began when she turned 6 years old. Her father, Mark Benton, was a high ranking official in the Alliance military, and as such spent most of his time away from home and from his family. On the eve of her 11th birthday, war broke out between Earth and one of its colonies. There was a supposed trade dispute that the colonists felt could not be addressed through mere social and economic reforms. Rachel was forced to move in with her father, as the situation on Earth was deemed to dangerous for her safety.
The war lasted only a year with the Alliance claiming victory of the rebel colonists. Life, it seemed, would carry on as usual.
With peace restored, Rachel was allowed to return back to Earth, where she would stay with her mother for another five years. Upon her 17th birthday, however, Rachel decided that she wanted to follow in her fathers footsteps, and so she enlisted herself in the military academy, passing through its rigorous exercises and demands with relative ease. (It was stated in her classified report that Rachel possessed enhanced combat and tactical fighting skills, far beyond those of her fellow cadets).
Upon graduating from the academy, Rachel was offered a position in the Mobile Suit Exploration Battlegroup, Merciless.
