This is predominantly aimed at residents in the UK.

Has anyone else been following the gay teen programs airing during the morning on Channel 4 this week? I tuned in on Monday and found an interesting show about high school teens planning a gay prom. While I thought this was a one off, every day this week they've dedicated their whole mornings to shows dealing with this subject. Today they had a interesting program where a recently gay teenager had to decide which group of friends to dump, his straight friends or his new gay friends. In the end he chose his new gay friends as they were the most accepting to his 'real' self.

I've found it an interesting series of programs but has anyone else been watching these programs and what do you guys think of them? These were the shows on this morning:

09:30 Batty Man
[repeat] [subtitles] [watch live]
With civil partnerships for gay people an acceptable part of the wider domestic and cultural landscape, comedian Stephen K Amos explores whether young people in the black community are finally ready to accept that it's okay to be black and gay.

10:30 Sex, Lies and Soaps
[repeat] [subtitles] [watch live]
Sex
According to soaps, teenage life is glamorous, sexy and exciting. But can we believe anything we see on screen? This five-part series examines the key areas of teenage life which feature regularly in soap storylines, explores how they reflect reality, and investigates to what extent teenagers imitate what they see on the screen.

11:00 How to Dump Your Mates
[repeat] [subtitles] [watch live]
Chris
Expert psychologist Geoff Beattie gives teenagers the chance to dump their mates for a new crowd with whom they have more in common.

11:30 Gay to Z
[repeat] [subtitles] [watch live]
Five-part series exploring life as a gay or bisexual teen, and the issues and challenges that come with being young and out.

Possibly, I think its more just a series of educational programs. Its not something I'd usually tune into but the 'dump your friends' program was interesting. I didn't understand why the gay guy 'had' to dump his gay or straight friends. It kinda reinforced the premise you have to be one thing or another which was a shame.
