Heh, well as many of you know, I was supposed to be out on the high seas right now...living it up as a sailor and enroute to Japan. However..***** decided to throw me a curve ball.

Woke up Sunday morn with apparently, a retina detaching from my eye...and so after much running around, I find myself home now, with a patch over my eye, from surgery about 11 hours ago.

So it seems...I'll be around a couple of months longer to bug you all :D

That is kind of a goodnews/badnews kind of thing. Get healed up soon.

Oh no. Anything but that. Why, oh why did this have to happen to us? :D

Sorry to hear about the detaching retina. I'm at risk for the same problem. I hope that the docs were able to repair the tears before permanent damage was done.

Hi! I know we've never met or chatted but I just wanted to extend best wishes for a speedy recovery! Lit people are the best and I just wanted to hope you get well soon!
Greetings from Napa Valley, California!

Hmmmm somewheres along the line ya musta been a bad girl. Prepare for your spanking ;)

Yeah when they looked at it yesterday they said I had caught it in time and that there would be no affecting my permanent vision.

I do appreciate the sentiments, thank you :)

Yup, caught in time it's a quick zap with a laser and you're good to go. But . . . the nice thing about convelescent leave is that it's all "good time".

Moi? Never. My back history is totally pure. *bats eyes innocently*

Glad to hear that it was caught in time and won't permanently affect your vision.

Actually with a torn retina...they put a gas in your eye to hold the retina in place. So they completely knocked me out...[which is not fun rousing from that]

 That sounds completely and utterly unpleasant!

The retina thing I mean, not you sticking around.

Get well soon. :rose:

Good god. I hope my retina never, ever, ever detaches. Speedy recovery, Jag.

LOL yea its not fun. The nurses were nice though...when one realized I was gonna be there for a little while, she ran out and got me some lunch. Wish I could eaten the hamburger but was so not up to that then. But the soup was good and everything else tasty...so I'll give that hospital props

:rose:

I think it's quite fortunate it happened when it did -- rather than after you were underway.

Heal well.

Ugh, sympathy on the general. Anasthetics and me don't mix too well.

Glad you're back for a while Jag *hugs*

Yeah it kicked me in the ass real good. Course now I gotta figure out a way to the clinic for the doctor tommorrow, as well as get to Portsmouth Naval hospital so they can run my paperwork for leave
