Chance Meeting or Fate? (Closed for Vailyn)

"Will you do it?" asked Garold.

"This is the first time I've been in one place for more than a day in over a year. I have no plans of doing anything but lounge around for the next few days."

"You know that I can't ask anyone else to do this. It'll be easy! All you have to do is make sure the goods are delivered on time. The whole trip will be paid for and I'll give you a bonus when you get back. You won't have to do a thing! Just ride with the caravan and make sure the packages make it to the Heights." Garold looked more hassled when his secretary announced that it was almost time for the next meeting. "I'll be right there!"

Garold turned to his longtime friend. "Normally business comes first but I can't lose this chance with Tasha. I made plans to propose to her in three days. Help me out, will you? I'll owe you a big one."

"Fine fine! I can't stand it when you whine like that. Go win yourself a wife while I see to your affairs."

Two days later, halfway to the Heights, a group of armored blackguards attacked the caravan. The noise of battle yanked the passenger awake. A look out of the carriage window showed that the guards were not faring well.

"Peaceful and easy huh? Not with my luck."

One of the raiders with the black lightning bolt insignia crept up to the carriage and made to open the door. The passenger drew a dagger and longsword and kicked the door open! The door smashed into the raider's face, blood bursting from a busted nose and mouth as he flailed back. Like a cold wind of fury, the passenger leapt out of the carriage and laid into the raiders with concentrated aggression.
