Here's the rules: Find a title in the new poetry thread that inspires you, and write a new poem with the same title.

It doesn't have to have the same form or the same subject, just the same title. Oh, and please add an italicized link and line crediting the author and the poem whose title you have honored.

You won't be able to add links and italicize them yourself, but in the submission, you can provide the http:// and ask the New Poetry Gnomes to do it for you.

I'm all tingly over this challenge. There are so many good titles that have made me say, "Darn it, I wish I had that title." Now I can. :D I have my eye on one right now. Should we ask the poet if it's okay to claim his/her title? I'm sure most of the regulars around here won't mind.

you sure it's the challenge and not that extra helpin of muskrat you had at dinner??

:D

Kissy kissy face evey

I'm ignoring the monkey.

This title Written in Haste on Napkin by no bagels is so inspiring that I wrote this little poem in just a few minutes:

she wiped her mouth
and walked away.
it was all there

in the lipstick:
terracotta sun,
kissed on linen--
unfolded goodbyes

between the water goblet
and me.

Now, I'm going in search of another title. :)

Now I'm working on "questions in the dark" and... oh jeez. I forgot who wrote it. I have to go through the new poems thread again!

Actually, tath, I'm Ignoring The Monkey would make a great title. I see a quirky poem with this title. Go for it.

While tath works on his monkey...

I need to find who wrote questions in the dark, which inspired:

A game we play
when the sun can't see us:

Who pushes dandelions above ground?

Dead gardeners.
Whispered warnings,
Never pick dandelions.

Fingers poke through holes left behind.

Bare toes in bony grass!
I tuck mine beneath our quilt,

leading to ticklish questions
before sunrise.

L&F, do you mind if I borrow your title? Of course, borrowing implies that I will be giving it back, but I won't be. :)
