Well, what we call it around our house is Celphone Haiku, but I don't want to get into a thing about haiku. But it is a short form poem, and ours have typically taken the form of a 5-7-5 syllable limit.
However, there is a more important limit to this form: Number of characters. In text messaging on cel phones, which is now a primary addiction of mine, there is a limit to the number of characters one can use. I believe this varies by phone and stuff, but in our world it's 160 characters as a limit.
This thread is for poems that are fewer than 160 characters, including spaces. They can follow a "haiku" (ahem) format if you like, but it is not necessary.
There is a secondary option for this challenge as well. Most celphone In-boxes list only the first ten or twelve characters of each message. I have encountered charming "found poems" in these lists occasionally. Watch for these if you are a text messager. They are often way fun.
Those can be offered in this thread as well.
Bonus points if you have actually sent them to someone on a cel, or received them similarly.
A few of my favorites from my own phone follow, just to get you started. Each one of these pieces has actually bounced off cel towers and been sent invisibly through midair. Which is cool.
Have fun.
