Chai tea.

LOL. I didn't know that.

I'll have Chai Chai latte to go please. I'm heading to Chejudo Island by way of Mount Soraksan.

*giggle*

I always assumed Chai tea was referring to the way it was prepared. With milk and some spices.

In America tea is commonly taken without milk so when you add milk it becomes Chai tea. Truth be told, people originally just called it Chai but since no one knew what that was they began called it Chai tea.

Oh, well. That's simply what I read - why do you think it's called what it's called?

Tea is tea. I've had chai tea-I've had tea at home, same stuff. I've been served in and out of my home with milk. It's called Chai as a marketing technique. Bindi's and Mendhi have been pretty popular lately as have sari's. Didn't Madonna convert to Hinduism awhile back? Almost funny-if they didn't do such a crappy job of representing the stuff.

Just cashing in on popular culture. You order an espresso, not an espresso coffee, right? Yeah-most people know what that is, but then-most coffee shops have a brief description of an item on the menu. Look up at Starbucks, Bruegers, Einstein Bros. or wherever you go. They all have it. Very inconsistent. Almost funny-if they didn't do such a crappy job of representing the stuff.

No, tea is not tea. There are several different types of tea on the market (I have about eleven of them in my pantry at the moment) and the majority of them are served without milk. As for doing a 'crappy' version of representing the stuff, I am sorry you do not like our version of Chai tea; I have no problem with it myself and, I'd guess, neither do the people who drink it.

Espresso is an Italian drink while many people in the US are not Italian so, yes; I have seen it listed as 'Espresso coffee' several times. True, Starbucks doesn't list it as such - maybe because it's a coffee house, one which traditionally serves yuppies?

While I'm at it yes, saris are popular with some groups, as well as Bindi's and Mendhi, but haven't jeans and t-shirts also been pretty popular lately as well? (And no, Madonna did not convert to Hinduism- she's been practicing Quabalism but that's Jewish.)

As for being inconsistent - most American's don't know what Oolong, French, Canadian or Ah Soy is before you connect them the food they're talking about. (That's tea, fries, bacon and sauce) Moreover, while I split hairs, espresso isn't really coffee. Coffee is when you seep coffee grounds in hot water then filter that water into a cup, espresso is brewed by using steam pressure to force hot water through a dark roast ground - there's no seeping.

Then again, I'm splitting hairs here.

No, you are just being your usual self, a total bitch. Her first post said she was just stating that Chai meant tea.

Tea is tea, then they add different things to the leaves for different blends, flavors and such, but it all starts out as a tea leaf.

Kind of like coffee is coffee, it comes from different places and has different flavors but it all starts out as a bean any that doesn't is imitation.

It's amazing - in the several odd months that I've been writing here no one has ever called me a bitch or have I ever been attacked by a troll.

Times like this make me reflect on how I represent myself and how I use the board. Am I tapping into the frustration I feel from the 'real world' and channeling it here? Am I responding to people in a manner that lacks respect and ignores their thoughts/feelings?

When I read threads and see people obviously using the board to make them 'feel good' by drowning out others, flinging insults from the shadows and making nasty comments it angers me. However, all tolerance and satisfaction come from within, I'd hate to think that I've become hypocritical.

By using this board to 'vent', I'm really robbing myself of the one place I can go to be myself and I'm a happy person. Why would I want to poison my private retreat with all the crap the outside world thrusts on us?

(((Suddup)))
So Suddup, thank you. All though you obviously have your own inner demons to work with but at least you're kind enough to point out when mine are taking away from the happiness of this board and myself.

(((CelestialBody)))
You deserve this as well. Not only have I been rude to you but I haven't even acknowledged the insight and kindness you bring to the board.

Now, let's bet on how long I can make this stick.
