"And so it was, in those days, that from time to time the ones appointed by the Great Goddess L to watch over the activities of her children; the Overseers, the Moderators would be called away to attend to matters elsewhere...but they always returned. And when they did, they would call all of L's children to come forth for counting...."-Valmari Folklore

Greetings to all of you that are currently taking part in the Online Role-Playing Forum...allow me to introduce myself, the name is Havocman, and I just happen to be one of the Moderators for this forum...the other being Ravenloft, who has been away for sometime now with PC problems, seems he picked up a nasty bug, and he has never fully recovered...

Anyway, I just wanted to take this moment to say hello to all of you that have kept this forum alive...I thought it was destined to perish after some of the original role-players left, and the start of the Sexual Role-Playing Forum seemed to be the final blow...However I was more than pleasantly surprised to see there was still activity taking place, and just let me state now that I find you folks have been doing a fantastic job...the 3 currently thriving threads are excellent interactive works of fantasy, people...I am truly impressed....

Now then, the reason I'm starting this thread: I notice from my back reading and catching up with everything that's going on, that there are quite a few names I don't recognize...a few I do ::bows to ShyGoddess::, but the majority I don't...so...I was just wondering if you are a regular to this BB and have registered your character's name to play in this part of the Board, or if you registered only to post in here? I understand that some may want to keep there regular Board name anonymous, and that's cool, just let me know if you have one...And if you weren't a regular here before, how did you happen to find out that role playing was taking place here? What role-playing systems do you have experience with, and what systems do you envision your character to be using...there are rules to the world, even a fantasy world. Also, please, everyone that's here feel free to email me with any ideas or suggestions you might have for this area...I would be more than happy to pass 'em up the chain to the Gods...also if anyone ever needs any in game conflicts resolved, let me know.

I can be reached at: Havocman@literotica.org

And with that, I return you all to your timeless wanderings...::bows deeply::

Your Humble Moderator,
Havocman:cool:

" GOD said let there be light!
but he forgot to pay his higher power bill"

I am a recent new player here and have just finally registered. I am found quite a bit around on Driftwood Inn in which I play a minor warrior-mage who is a childhood love of Trintiy and therefore wants to protect her from any and all harm that could befall her.

Hey Havoc...

Totally LOVE this board... I'm playing Trinity a princess at the Inn... and recently Lady Luck and Lady Fate in when the God's meddle and also Vixen an assassin in a bold new world a and having a ball with it... hope it goes on and on and on and on... err...

Yes well anyway... man... there could seriously be a novel in this don't you agree?? But love the varied characters here and being able to really have fun with my own characters too... I guess I'm a newbie... but plan on being around for a good long time now... found this site accidentally although been a regular reader at Literotica... checked out the board... was curious... so this is was a first for me... and I'm... as I have mentioned already... LOVING IT!!!

Keep it up Havoc...

Your's cheekily... Money... or M.T.... or whatever you wanna call me... [winks]

Hey havoc
I love this board. The threads here are very involved and quite creative.
I'm writing Aesbus in "...Strange Land", he's character is portrayed as a wanderer, who has a secret past he fears will be revealed and place all of his companions in danger.

I'm also writing Avery, "When the God's Meddle", He is a young mercenary who is a master with any weapon that uses a bow.

I've been reading Lit. for quite awhile now and one day stumbled back here. I'm fairly new the role playing world...but am having a great time with these threads.

Any advice to newbie role players would be very helpful...
you said there were rules and such...
maybe this thread could be used to lay down some ground rules that some of us may not be aware that we're breaking.

You use the word system...? that may be a good place to start....
c-ya

Hiya Havoc! I'm playing Endar in Driftwood Inn, a fallen knight with the requisite shadowy past...~g~

One or two ground rules might be helpful, though too many would just bog people down and piss them off. Probably the most important one to remember is the First Rule of Improvisation, which states that you can never directly invalidate what someone else has said. Example:

player 1: "That's a nice hat you're wearing."
player 2: "I'm not wearing a hat."

Altough, I gotta admit, I've never seen anyone actually do this - this is one awesome board...

Darb, Triatic, Shadowman, can I just say, guys... I love your characters... really really good, great dialogue, character developement... thank you for allowing my own characters to interact with yours... having a blast...

and I second your request for some basic ground rules, though admittedly, we're doing pretty well aren't we guys???

[grins]

Oh, I concur. It's a real pleasure roleplaying with all of you...

~smile~

Hi, I'm Lady Aline.

I started the 'When the Gods meddle...' thread. I didn't think it would be popular! Guess people have the same warped tastes in fantasy with a Greek/ Roman influence to it as me. I invented Sir Mordred and Sara in 'Driftwood inn', and under another puesdoneum (forgive my spelling...) introduced the Elves. I must admit I haven't logged onto the 'strange land' role play... must do that soon.
And I agree heavily with moneytalks! Rules are needed. What pisses me off the most is when people refuse to follow the line of the story and ignore other characters. Side-line plots are brilliant, but they have to fit in with the main story! So to the moderators I ask this; make some rules! Not strict ones, mind.... :-(

-Lady Aline.

I can only say that I enjoy interacting with all of your characters very much. You all have such imagination and talent. I created Sibeal in strange land and Jasmine in the INN. I also tried my hand in when gods mettle. I haven't posted in a while here. I have a little case of writers block whenever I try to think of some place to take the story. I do check in to see where the story goes, hoping to receive some inspiration. I'll see you all in the stories. ;)

Wow it is great to see so many good players on here! i know that this board will live for quite some time.... unlike otherboards this one was so easy to get into! i could get into the storys without being killed two messages in! it is really cool....... any way i would like to Third the basic ground rules as i thnk that if we have a few standards there wont be any newbie ego maniacs coming in and ruining all the stories...well i wish to say that i hope you come and participate in my thread as you have in driftwood i think all you theifs will enjoy it;)

player under Ravenloft

Hi. I was email playing the AD&D adventure with Ravenloft when he moved here. I followed after a short time and was playing 'The Graveyard' until it all stoped. Kept logging in for some time and all threads where dead, so I disappeared. Today I checked back in, and I'm glad to see it is still alive.

I didn't even know about literotica.com before the game came here...

I know a lot of systems...

Um Hiya all...I'm LadyChance, thought I might drop a line. I haven't put anything into the stories yet. I can say I have read them all...and I am waiting patiently for more. As for me, I like to play AD&D and Shadowrun I have played a little Vampire. Unforchantly not much though. Also I have played Diablo online. I haven't joined the stories as I have said. I do plan on it soon, just want to see where they go from the spots they are at now. So keep them going I loved the Driftwood Inn its great. The rest are good too no insult intended to the rest of you. I was just thinking how much the Driftwood Inn reminded me of a Inn I use to play in on AD&D so it's a fondness for me.

Well done everyone...

Thank you to those that have responded here so far, even the ones that didn't really want to ::winks at nyte:: And to those of you who took advantage of me putting my email address up there, thank you for writing...

Note to Darb: When I used the word "systems", I meant Role Playing Game Systems, i.e.; Dungeons & Dragons, Vampire, The Masquerade, Rolemaster, Shadowrun, etc. ,or one of the online Role Playing Systems; Rhydin, Dragon Realms, Ultima, Everquest, etc.

Okay, I now have a better idea of just who some of you folks are...and I see that newbies come in everyday, always a healthy sign, when they learn how to play along. So with that thought in mind...I'm off to the GROUND RULES thread...please feel free to follow...

And if you haven't posted your Census reply here yet, please do...as they say on those silly US Census commercials, "It's about YOUR future..."

Havoc

Hi there all, I found this set of boards due to the first posting by my friend Nyte, I saw the SL and how it was going and just had to jump in, she is one of my fav RP partners you see.
Aric... oh what can I say about him? He was the second character I created on AOL play in RhyDin RP, I have been actively RPing him there for the past 2 years now there, in that time fine-tuning and refining his personality. Anyone wanting a full history for him (I have one back to childhood... and he is 350 years old, so it's sections) just ask and I'll send it over.
I am yet to become a "regular" here, but most of those I have encountered I find to be extrodinary RPers, and some who are just in need of a little time to adjust. I know it can take a while.
I have been RPing for a full 14 years now, first experience with a D&D game (no, not AD&D, this was before that) and further on to AD&D, video game RPGs, RPing on Prodigy and then AOL. Since my start on AOL 3 years ago I have come across nearly every system thought up thus-far... D&D, WW, Vampire: The Masquerade and the many complex versions of RhyDin FF RPing. I am also working on an RP system of my own design... perhaps I'll send out some info for it when it's done. :)
Well, that is it for now. I'll see you all in there!

Hello Havoc, I hear tell they call you "Havoc The Mighty". May one ask where you got this name?

As for me, As my name states I am a dancinvixen <g> (exotic dancer). teehee. I am currently playing the Goddess Danu and the elven Gelite on the thread, "When the Gods Meddle". I think it would be an awesome thread if it didn't keep getting interrupted by side tangents.

I haven't yet found another thread to keep my interst yet, but hopefully another will come along. But for now, I will have to be content to Play my roles.

*taps microphone*
Um, yeah is this thing on?
*clears throat*
I stumbled onto this board about a week ago and have been reading the posts since then. Some of you have very "interesting" imaginations :) Anyway, when i saw a new thread forming i decided to join in. I have been role-laying for about 10 years now, mostly Rifts and D&D, some Shadowrun and Hero system.
O yeah, my primary reason to post here is to attempt to improve myself as a writer, and of course to ahve a little fun as well

[Edited by evilhyphen on 07-11-2000 at 03:17 PM]

Hello to all the players. I've enjoyed reading your threads and have decided to attempt to participate. I haven't played RP games in twenty years. I currently don't
own any systems, should I? I'm enjoying this and finding it quite relaxing. Hey, if I get in someones way kill me off and I'll try again.

Welcome!!!!

Hi there to the new newbies!

Grins...

Jonas:... hey... love your character... I promise if you die... it won't be because I assassinated you okay?
{winks}

evilhyphen... I've heard alot of people mention the whole D&D (which I believe stands for Dungeons & Dragons?) etc thing. Can I just ask... are these computer games? Or other web pages or what? I'd be interested to explore other boards. I'm currently playing Diablo II... a new computer game that a friend of mine bought. I love it! Never thought I'd love that kinda thing... but it really is a lot of fun!
oh... and cute what you did there with the microphone... [grins]

dancinvixen... I agree about too many side tangents... although in most cases it works... even I'm getting confused with the numerous sub-plots. I do love your goddess and your elf though. Good characters!

I will be leaving for college on Spetember 2 so as of then my writing time is going to be cut back so bear with me if I don't make many posts. Yeah, I know I don't make many know but...~shrugs~ Hope the story can live on.
Trinity's Love,
Curtis

Money, Thank you sweetie. I have no idea why, but the story just wouldn't have been complete without them. Also, I love the sister idea. A great idea. <g> BTW, Money, for some reason Danu seems to be doing the writing. I know it sounds and looks like Gelite, but it is actually Danu. Sometimes I hate it when my characters take on their own lives, makes it very difficult to live with them <g>

All of the games I mentioned are dice and paper style, offline, group of people sitting around a table games.
(sorry, couldnt think of a clearer way to say that.)
Although several of them have had CRPGs made out of them.
AD&D in particular has had tons of conputer versions over
the years.(Anyone remember the old gold-boxed games?
I must have wasted hundreds of hours on those.)
While IMHO that sort of face to face interaction makes for a better game experince than online posting does, I am stuck with a dearth of games locally and find myself turning
to the internet to get my fix :) Sorry if this strayed a little off topic. O well.
