Censorship by neglect & omission

It's coming up on a year since I first joined Literotica. Not long after joining I submitted my first story. I was thrilled when it was accepted though disappointed that it was to be relegated to the Extreme Story site rather than the main site due to some bestiality content but I understood the reasoning to some degree. Still, I waited with great anticipation for it to be posted. I waited in vain. I came to these boards for answers since none of my letters sent directly to the site owners gleaned any answers to what the cause of the delay might be. I was told that it might take as long as till June due to a Supreme Court ruling that was to take place before any new postings could be made to that area. Again, I waited and again, in vain. The site was updated but my story was still not to be among the favored few. I supposed that it was possible that having taken so long that my submission might have gotten lost along the way and knowing the sheer volume of submission this site must get I wasn't vain enough to think that my submission was any more special to them than any other they receive so I resubmitted my story. Again it was approved and again I was told it would be relegated to the Extreme Story site and again I waited through all of only two updates to that site in six months and still there is no sign of my more than worthy effort. I certainly understand that Literotica is a large and busy site but it has been almost a year now since that first submission and another six months since the second and I have to wonder at this point if there isn't an alternative reason for the area to which the genre of mine and other alternative content stories are to be housed has been so neglected. There are all sorts of censorship, although to look at the way this site portrays it's self touting freedom of speech and readily encouraging participation of it's members in non-censorship organizations, you'd never think to find it operating here. Apparently it does in the form of neglect and omission to areas that may not have particular interest to the either the site owners or the majority. This, of course, is more than their right to decide but be up front about it rather than the surreptitious manner in which it occurs now. I offered a gift of my ability and sensuality freely and it has been set aside to collect the dust of dereliction. As much as I would have liked to have seen my work posted to this site I've given up that idea at this point. Due to first impressions being the ones that count I'd venture to say that I'll reserve future offerings to other avenues. I'd still love to share my story here but it appears I'm not to be given that opportunity. For those who would care to see it you are more than welcome to either contact me for it or if you have a Yahoo membership it can be found at my own group in my group files section. (my email address and link are both found in my Literotica profile) I created the group for the purpose of sharing the things I enjoy and in hopes that others will do the same. The difference is that I'll tell you up front, I'm pretty open to most things but I do closely moderate and some things won't be allowed. Perhaps that's something this site should be more forthcoming with as well.

Everyone deserves to know if their story is accepted or rejected. That limbo has to be maddening.

However, freedom of speech isn't what you seem to think it is. I don't believe that Literotica is censoring your story. I think that they would just send you a rejection letter if they didn't want to post it. They DO reject manuscripts.

I hope you get an answer.

Censorship

Okay, you got to realize, freedom is never free. There is always a price, either blood (old dispensation) or silence (new dispensation). Sorry, but that's the way it is. I know, I know, you'd expect that with something like "Literotica.com" it would be pretty wide open, but hey! It isn't. Get used to it. It's the "new dispensation." It starts with the "over eighteen" stuff. It ends with death. Okay, it ALL ends with death, so what's the diff?

So don't feel bad.

Love,

I don't think the problem is censorship, I think it's just that Laurel hasn't updated allextreme in a long time and the guy's a little upset over it. He's just using the old standby of claiming "censorship" because he's pissed off. I can't say that he's wrong in being pissed, I would be, too. However, screeching about "censorship" because allextreme doesn't get updated is just as wrong.

Censorship

Kristie,
The story was submitted and approved twice. I still have both the letters sent in response to my submissions. The point isn't that they do or don't have the right to censor, the do but should they do so under the guise of blanket approval if that, in fact, is not the case. There's a huge difference if a story is rejected versus approved and then just never posted because the area it's to be posted to is lowest priority because content of that area isn't to the person approval of the site owner. The letters of acceptance state that the story would be posted within a short time frame and it's ludicrous that is should then take a year with still no possibility of posting in sight. So if there is to be censorship via neglect or omission then why not say simply, we're not interested in this content and be done with it, let the area die, remove it all together and use the server space for something they do approve of? Yes, the limbo they left me hanging in has been uncalled for and a waste of time and efforts.
As far as getting over it, at 42 there are a lot of things I've "gotten over" darlin but I also know when/how to speak up and that's a right I surely won't relinquish without a fight. If people simply sat back and got over things they didn't care for then this site wouldn't have a place to exist, none of us would have a place to post any erotic content of any kind or a forum to continue to ask others to be accountable for unclear policies. So in this case, I think I'll keep to voicing my opinion and asking my questions if not just for myself but for others who might find themselves in a similar situation one day looking for the same answers I am.

Censorship

KM,
Check profiles please. I'm far from being male. I'm also not screeching. If I were sweets, you'd know the difference. <wink> Given that you don't think it's censorship then I ask do you then on the other hand think that those in charge of updating are just merely inconsiderably rude not to be courteous enough to post to those concerned that there will be a delay in posting approved stories? Perhaps you missed something in my original post. The parts where I said that I'd written them privately on a few occasion as well as here on the message boards over that long time frame and gotten no response at all? So left to interpret on my own, I at least gave them the benefit of simply not caring for the content rather than having poor manners. Interesting how these times that I've posted to the boards about this issue that I've gotten private responses from others who've had the same difficulties. That being the case then I suppose it's a matter of interpretation. You are most certainly allowed yours but so am I as are the others I've spoken to.
