Okay, so this is mostly an opinion thing. I'm curious as to what people think.

I'm fairly new to this site, but I've been writing for quite some time now. I really enjoy writing celebrity porn/erotica. Recently I'd been throwing around an idea for a celebrity Alternate Universe story. I'm not going to go into detail plot wise, but when I started planning it, there was very little plot. I won't lie; I'd basically come up with the premise as an excuse to throw celebrities into different sexual situations that wouldn't be easy to really work into their "real" lives.

So, the more I thought about it, and planned it, the more plot kind of took over. Now I'm to the point where plot vs. sex, it's sort of a slightly more explicit version of what you might see in a Showtime or HBO television show, so it's become far more plot driven than sex driven. At this point, I think the story itself is strong enough to hold up without using the entire celebrity angle. On the other hand I still think it would make an extremely interesting, fun, dark, somewhat supernatural, Celebrity AU story.

I'll decide what I'm going to do in that regard, but I'm extremely interested in what others have to say on the subject. If I had the time, I'd almost be tempted to write it out both ways. That's not going to happen though.:)

So, celebrity stars vs. original characters?

So, celebrity stars vs. original characters?

There's no right answer to this, for people that go after Celebrities specifically, how good it is will be dependent two things, 1) Do they like that celebrity? 2) Are they doing something they (reader!) like?

Say you come up with Angelina Jolie in some sort of Adopted Son Incest (Based in Future?), well, Angelina Jolie fans that don't like Incest will hate, any Person that doesn't like Angelina wont like it.

To those of us who haven't got a clue which celebrity is which, or who could care less when you use a celebrity character will treat them as a random character that you describe. We'd picture them as your own Original, but we would know they are real people.

With a Celebrity people know, they already Like / Dislike her, thus the emotion is already there, which saves you some trouble in the whole aspect of creating an original character, but because the emotions / feelings are already there, then you will also lose the support of those that don't agree with either that celebrity or the basic story.

Now, in an Original Character, it's totally how you go about doing it. We have no love for the character, because we have yet to meet them or get to know them. If you're idea was a basic jerk off story, I would just say go celebrity, but as it's clear you're story is now plot driven, you may want to consider both aspects.

Now, if you already built this story around Celebrities, then why not just stick with them?

Or, you could have your own original characters along side the celebrities!

Final Note : No matter what other people say here, each type of character has its own pros and cons, but the eventual decision will be yours alone.

Best feedback you can get on this, would be gained less so from saying "Celebrity Stars" but actually telling us some of the Celebs you plan on using. Then you can possibly get an inkling into which ones are more liked than others.

Okay, I can throw out some of the names of Celebrities I'd be using. That seems fair:

Alyson Hannigan
Julia Stiles
Miley Cyrus
Selena Gomez
Taylor Swift
Avril Lavigne
Jeri Ryan
Maggie Gyllenhaal
Jake Gyllenhaal
Natalie Portman
Scarlet Johansson
Felicia Day

These are several of the names that would be involved. There are others who have parts as time goes on, but these would be the primary players for the first several parts.

If by Celebrities you really mean using those people in your situations, then that is fine.

If, on the other hand, you are using the characters those celebrities play, then you are using other people's ideas, which is called plagiarism.

To make this distinction clear, using the first name you cite, Alyson Hannigan, having her participate in activities (on here, probably sexual) is fine, but remember that there are no vampire slayers, and she is not Willow. She is actually Mrs. Denisof with two daughters, so there's a MILF to die for.
