We're a month into the new year, and right around now is when people do the most damage to their resolutions...or goals...or whatever else they call their personal action plan.

Because you look back over the last month, and instead of focusing on the good habits we've started, we focus on all the things we haven't accomplished.

So you're not working out 5 days a week yet - you can only manage twice. But that's two more than you were doing a 5 weeks ago!

Or you still can't manage to polish off a whole book in 4 weeks, but you're reading something for pleasure for the first time in 5 years...cool!

I've watched several friends in the last two days almost chuck a lot of great new habits because they were focusing on all the ones they still hadn't started.

I did some housework. That should count for something.
I was on time for work twice.

Well, that's pretty sad.

I've actually studied and passed tests for the first time in years.

They're right about actually working hard when your paying for it yourself!

I've stuck to my NYR so far....

"to spend less time working and more time with my family"

I didn't make any New Year's resolutions... but I made one last week... to try and find ways to ease up... de-stress... smile... and take things in stride...

If any of you catch me doing otherwise, please bitch slap me.

I don't make them, so I don't break them. Like I need a new year for a revelation, hmmtpff! Anyhoo, maybe I made one and it's to get out of NYC for a while and take a vacation in CA. OH bright sunny CA and will you warm my jaded heart?

April, if I know I am going to be late for work, I just call in sick. :D

I'm with ya on that bandwagon, Monsieur Dillinger!

Bob, I applaud your positive outlook. I have taken the last couple of weeks to get more organized, finish some projects and play with myself. See? I've kept my resolutions! ;)

I only hope I can be as successful as you've been, Barb...

Now - can we hear more about you playing with yourself?

I don't make New Year's resolutions.
But, I do welcome a positive outlook.

I'm proud of myself for:

Stimulating new growth from the near-dead plants left here by the old owner.

Adopting my new kitty, Maxine, from the humane society.

Painting my new home.

Nice thread. :)

I haven't touched the drink since before November, but that really doesn't count because it wasn't my decesion.

I didn't smoke a bong hit until 8PM today.

Now, if only I could do something about my crack habit.

Maybe it despends on what kind of "crack" you are referencing to?

Whenever I am in a frisky French mood, I play Solitaire.

When I want to double my fun, I PlayStation 2

If I am really horny, I'll play tic tac toe/3 in a row!

Sometimes I try to Connect Four.

And when none of those satisfy, I indulge in a bit of 5 card stud. ;)

/hijacking (sorry Bob)

I cannot. There is no one else to work during the week. Besides, if I did that, I'd be home all the time!
