This afternoon my wife and I drove the 45 minutes to a place called Harbor Freight Tools.

Too bad for me I didn't have my Debit Card with me.

I picked up a reciprocating saw for $17.00. I also picked up a set of Calipers, an Offset T-Square and a Pump Siphon.

All high quality yet cheap.

Tomorrow I may head down there again. They had several other tools/toys I'm interested in.

So what's your toy store?

There's a beading store in town that has the most beautiful crystals and "sparklies". I try to limit my time there, but I can feel the pull as I drive by...

I bought an air compressor at HFT for $100. It still works. I also bought a brad nailer airgun for $19, but got a Bostitch at Home Depot for around $100 that's, like, three times lighter. Plus, it's oil-less. Anything I get at HFT is either a spare, (except for the air compressor) or I'll buy two, figuring one is going to break.

Cheap tools are great in the short run, but they can come back to bite you when you're out on the job site, 2 hours away from a replacement. (Not to mention the whole slave labor thing. If a $100 nail gun costs $19, somebody's getting screwed somewhere in the world. Or, as Ami would say, somebody's getting money for food. I guess it's all relative.)

Don't get me near a Best Buy or Circuit City.

Between the 'puters, phones, cameras, CD's, DVD's etc. I am in a toy store.

Goin' by prices, my toys cost less than most kiddie toys. And are a lot more fun. :D

Art supplies, especially for my kids. I'll bitch and be a miser about other things, but they get all the paints, canvases, brushes, pencils they want.
For me-- fabricstores, lumberyards, craft suppliers, leather suppliers, Pow-wows and re-enactment rondayvoos, gem and mineral shows, you know-- the usual

Oh, and I do like Harbor Freight-- I'm lucky there's one kind of close. Buy a rechargeable drill from there, and you'll return the first three before you get one without problems.

Bed, Bath, and Beyond. All the possibilities in that store amaze me, especially in the kitchen collection. Knives are like shoes, you just have to buy one more. It doesn't matter that you already have plenty. They're so shiny, and sharp. Global knives, especially.
