This is inspired by an old thread done years ago by Kuuroinochou. It was a thread about an alternate world where the people look similar to humans but have cat ears and tails. The royal princesses were on a birthday trip through space and crash-landed on Earth.

My idea is to use a similar setting, with some tweaks so it isn't an exact clone:
Many centuries ago, an advanced alien species known as the Gwu'atha sul Vada cruised the stars within the Milky Way, compiling a list of planets with habitable atmospheres. On most of these worlds, life had not advanced beyond instinct-driven animals, but the Vada were pleased to discover Earth, where humans had built cities and empires.
Wanting to use the humans in their science experiments, the Vada plucked groups of people from different regions of Earth and deposited them on other planets to observe how they adapted, in some cases genetically altering their test subjects. In one such experiment, an entire village was abducted from Gaelic Ireland, genetically engineered to grow cat ears and tails, as well as enhanced strength, speed, stamina, agility, and physical senses. They were then sent to a forested world a few systems over, which eventually came to be known as Daebith, derived from the Old Irish words "ailitherdae" and "bith," meaning "foreign" and "world," respectively.
The Vada observed the Daebith settlers from a cloaked space station, as they did on all their test worlds. At first, the Daebithans were scared and confused about being on a new, foreign world, as well as coping with the changes to their genetic structures. They came to idolize their former home as Sen Talam, meaning "Old Earth."
Over the coming generations, the Daebithans increased their population, scattered out and formed several forest kingdoms. Eventually, the stories of Sen Talam and the Vada passed into mythology, and their spoken and written language branched off slightly from Old Irish.
Fast forward several centuries, and Daebith becomes the first of the Vada test worlds to lay the foundations of an industrial revolution. Another few centuries, and they construct their first space shuttle, discovering the old Vada orbital station when its cloaking device fails. After boarding the station and spending many years researching the data in its computers, the Daebithan scientists are able to deduce that the old myths of Sen Talam were true, and that the Vada had died out ages ago due to a great plague, leaving their experiments to evolve without further tampering.
With a renewed dream to return to Sen Talam, the cat people of Daebith unite their fractured kingdoms and pool their resources into advancing their space-faring capabilities. Utilizing the data from the Vada station, they were able to work up schematics for a hyperdrive, but it took several decades before the engineers were able to build a working prototype, due mostly to power requirements.
Fast forward another century or so, and the Daebithans have established multiple orbital stations and moon colonies throughout their system, and finally set their sights on Sen Talam. Accompanying the explorers on this historic voyage are several members of the Royal Family, namely the princess sisters and their honor guards.
They finally arrive at Earth after a three month cruise, only to suffer a hyperdrive malfunction that strands them on the planet without long-range communications to contact Daebith. What's worse is that their landing has attracted the attention of government agents...
